Default Honda City 2005, Engine Overhaul

    Hello

I need some advice, please. My car reduces oil and gives white smoke when the engine has run for some time and is hot. When the engine is cold, it does not give any smoke. I got a compression test and the Honda Service Center told me that the 2nd and 3rd cylinder have gone weak, less than 70% compression, while cylinder 1 and 4 are ok (more than 85% compression).

They have recommended an engine overhaul. On the odo meter, the car has done 95,000 kms but since it is 2nd hand I am not sure it is ok.

I am in Quetta, where you dont have very competent mechanics as well.

Can someone please give me advice.

    Thnx

Well, the 1st owner had probably trashed the car. Since I didnt know much about cars beyond Suzuki Mehran, I got it!!

I have certainly learnt the hard way, but the lesson will remain.

The car has now done 1500kms since overhaul. Its running fine. Just that it seems to give some trouble at start up when the engine is hot. Any advice? Could it be that the cylinder boring was not done properly, and now that summers have set in, it the metal expands creating trouble in start up? Any opinions?

    AoA,

Just a follow up. The engine has done 1500 kms since overhaul. It has gone much more quiet and running great. So far it is running on petrol and doing something like 12kms / lit in the city with A/C. I wonder how good that is? I am now confronted with the thought of driving on CNG. Though I hate the drive on CNG now, but the economy is also important.

    Any advise ?

Well overhaul will not be an effect on CNG.. CNG remains CNG... regarding 12km in city it is fine..(Depends on driving style).. Myself had similar issue 6 months ago (white smoke, oil consumption) completely replaced engine from Honda center... It took a lot of wealth but the output is tremendous and satisfying both on CNG and petrol..On long run, it gives me exact 25 km per liter with 100km/h avg speed. Overhaul's are not satisfactory in Honda's due to teflon settings.....

+1. This happened to my friend who dropped his cultus's keys at Suzuki rawalpindi motors for engine overhaul and pick them back after paying 70k. Yes 70k for a cultus engine overhaul.

I think THAT's what actually happened, the overhauled the engine completely and told our brother it was a "replacement".

Honda Center guys are such ba$tards, they spray painted my car's whole left side just to match it with the foot board that needed denting and repainting due to hit with footpath.

lolz he must have banged his head in a wall to death after realizing what he did.

However, the guys at Modern Motors Rwp, just opposite to honda centre on Mall Road rwp are nice and sort of "halaali" people, I had to leave my car once or twice for some denting painting job and suspension work, the quality was really good and satisfactory.

Toyota Rawal motors is also one big deep shitty den for such cheater dump craps.

When I asked him why did you pay such amount for a cultus engine overhaul? you could easily get an whole EFI engine in lesser price. He was like it's company. Nothing matches with their workmanship. I was like okay, Good for you..

rebuilding a honda engine would easily cost you 50,000 rupees if done through regular workshops(and parts from open market)
Honda 3S would easilly charge 80-90k for a rebuild
do check the block code of the swapped block
    is it L12A or
L13 (L13 would clearly mean it was arranged from local junk market/mithu khan saddar)
Life is short and very unpredictable just like a Quarter mile .....

It was a L12A, Honda center showed us the container through which it had arrived from thailand, If you just open the oil cap, you may view inside that it was never used to pour oil inside...

Anyways, my advice for guys having honda city 2005+, never go for a rebuild, always causes issues, go for a assembly or enginer swap...
