Default Looking to get CNG kit in City 09 I-VTEC with automatic transmission

    Hi Guys

I am planning to get CNG kit installed in my 09 model City (automatic transmission), The car was previously under my use but now the driver will be using it and hence the daily milage will increase.

are there any known issues with Automatic city and CNG kit? I know honda does not recommend CNG in any of its model but still. what is your experience?

ur much better off with running ur car on petrol , cng in the long run is going to hurt ur car more and will take away the fun out of driving , ur engine wont be the same again once u have moved on to cng , it will be ruined

City AT has a lot of problems with CNG. You regret your decision later.

brother I understand that the car work better on petrol than CNG, i just want to know if CNG destroys your car or just causes small problems (which i can live with as the driver will be driving it most of the time )

The problem is that my annual milage for the car was around 10000 - 12000 km, now it is going to be around 22000 - 25000 km with the driver driving it most of the time. I think CNG will be very cost effective in this case and "khawari" free as the driver will be standing in the CNG line

One of my friends got it installed a week after it was delivered from showroom. Initially it was fine but just after 2000 to 3000 KM it started giving problems like low pick up, frequent tunings etc. Than it started giving jerks on low gears along with a terrible stucking sound on red signals. By the time he reached 8000 KM, his car used to slip/miss gears and sometimes wont shift from 4th to 5th gear. The pattern was very unpredictable. By 10,000 Km the car was not permenantly shifting to 5th gear and the intermitant shifiting problem came down from 3rd to 4th gear. Sometimes it shifted to 4th gear fine and sometimes it didnt. The problem started worsening and one day he was not able to shift to 4th gear permanently.
We showed this car to HONDA 3s and they blamed the CNG kit and their reasoning was very logical. The resolution to the problem was to change the transmission belt/chain which costed Rs. 1,20,000 two years back (belt/chain got loosse due to lack of power provided by CNG). I saw the loose chain/belt myself and there was a lot of play in it which was causing it to slip and not shift gears. 20,000 were the labour charges and new CVT oil etc. Total cost around 1,50,000 approx.
We then decided to sell the car which was a wise decision at that time. The person purchasing the car was clearly told of this problem but I guess he was some landlord type of person and didn't really care.
Later on we found out that he got the transmission belt/chain changed from Honda 3s in Rs. 1,65,000.

Driver might be the one standing in the line , but the AT City has had many problems with CNG , if you have a manual car it might be ok to go to cng , but i wouldn't def suggest cng for AT City, anyways you can decide by browsing through some posts of people having problems on cng and check if there problems were temp. simple to resolve and not that lot expensive
