Default City 2005, Original Honda Oil

    Dear All Experts/Pakwheelers/Friends
Need suggestion for Oil change in my honda city 2005.

Had been using Caltex Havoline 5w30. Every thing seems fine, but recently i got contacted by Honda Classic I-10.

They have asked me if I would like to change and use Original Honda Oil, with original oil and air filter.

If you experts suggest Honda Original Oil, it had two options, Synthetic and Mineral. Which one should I go for? The engine has covered 147,000 Km and MashaAllah, its working perfect!

Is Honda Original Oil recommended, or should I continue with Caltex Havoline? I have just a feeling that I got fake caltex oil.

    Thanks in anticipation.

Dont use Honda oil. the oil u are currently using is 10 times better and also remember the rule of thumb, "jo cheez sahi chal rhi ho os k sath panga nai karna".

@Sidra : How long you have been using your car and getting it maintained by yourself. Well, i think fully synthetic oil is better my own choice for Xli 2005 is Total Quartz 7000 or 9000. It's the best works for 5000 Miles ~ 8000 Kms and its not heavy on pocket as well.

According to Storm, the environment here is not suitable for milages beyond 5000 km ov filter use. The air filters do not work as efficiently so it is best recommended to not go as far as 8000 km. Else, Shell Blue Box was once claimed to be good for 10000 km.

    Sidra,

as you car has driven ~150k and engine condition is also good as you said. So now its time to move little thicker oil than what you are using presently.
If you are still using 5/30, then its no recommended to use it more.

Secondly, caltex, shell, toyota, honda, pso, total, etc are the old names in the market and people are moving to synthetic n semi synthetic oils. Quality wise these local oils are not very good as compare with imported oils (subject they are not being repacked here).

I will strongly suggest you to use
    ZIC M 15/40
    change it after 3500~4000K

keep it using till your car completes 170k

after that simply shift to 20/50
but again, plz prefer imported companys and dont trust the quality of local oils any more.

    Cheers with good luck.
