Cool Owner's Club: Honda City Aspire 2013 1.5L

    Hi Guys,

I thought all 1.5L Aspire owner's can come under one roof and share their opinions about this car and the unique engine type which has been introduced for the first time in Pakistan in ivtec. This will also provide a good reference point to standard City and Aspire 1.3L owners and help everyone make an informed decision to the age old conflict between Standard City or Aspire when it comes to new purchase.

    Areas of Focus:
    Engine Performance
    Entertainment System
    Navigation/GPS Performance
Handling/Braking considering new Aspire is 1.5L
    and many more ..........

All opinions and suggestions are welcome.

    Here are a few tips-
When starting up on cold start, keep AC off- un-necessary load on engine
Don't rev when starting up- duhh, you got an efi car
Don't brake hard during break-in-period. Puts load on engine
    Keep speed under 100 km/h
Don't stick to one speed- do a few km's in 40, 60, 80, 100 and repeat. It helps the Piston rings to seat properly.
Change engine oil on 1000km, even if they tell you it can last until 5000km- It's a brand new engine, some metal shavings will be visible once you drain the engine oil
Stay away from Synthetics until 5000km- Mineral oil helps " Breaking-in " your engine more
Don't rev abruptly- you can engage Veetech after wards
I would love to let the experts verify this- I don't have enough monies to pay for a brand new engine. Follow this on your own risk.
Turbo lag is like foreplay. You know it's coming. And it's gonna be good.

Great... What happened to another popular myth 'ajkal cars ki running poori ki hoti hai" :p

I rem w e used to drive new engines like that about ten to fifteen years ago.

Yes, new engines are tested in the factory- Just to see if there aren't any issues with the engine, like Piston too loose, crankshaft hitting other parts, aka just to see if the car runs smooth. And, this is just a Myth I think. But, who will test this Myth by driving their car like a maniac? Han, agar aap muhje de do 1.5 City 0 meter to test, Bismillah, Haazir

    InshaAllah and thanx.

I am getting it through JS Bank. They have their weird policy of not issuing a Delivery Order to the vendor till they get the car registered. And the car is registered against original papers and invoices meaning it will take a while to get it from the Factory. If I sum it up, there is no use of getting a readily available car at showroom if you are financing it through JS Bank. They will take atleast two weeks in this process.
I am stuck due to my office policies.

lol. okay bro. I just sold 2000 gen 6 VTi, I believe it had the best feeling of the VTEC kicking in as far as the local cars are concerned. Specially for an Automatic Drive as compared to Prosmatec transmission which compromises the acceleration on Gear Shifts by minimizing jerks.

I can always wait for the 'VEETECH'

ORIX is the best. Their only rule is, car has to be Insured before leaving dealership. Love that.

Civic vs. City is not a justified comparison. We cannot compare on speed, horsepower or torque only, there must be a lot other factors which the experts here can put a light on. If we give consolidated ratings basing on Comfort, Pickup, Stability and Braking, the results might be different.

    Finally got the car delivered.

I am planning to change the tires on ASAP basis. The last night market research told me that Michelin XM2 is a reasonable tire and I came across Continental CC5 too. Yokohoma Advan DB is also an option.

My question is, is 195/65/15 an appropriate size for this car or should I look for 195/60R15. Also, is 195 a good profile or I'll have to bear a 185 due to max 10mm suggested profile change

Also which country make should I choose..??

Mubaaril bhai ..upload pics ..make a thread and create a big deal out of it :-)

185-65/15 and 195-60/15 are the best profile for this Honda City.

People get 195-65/15 too but it is bif for City's stock rims !!

Whatever the country make only get it from the authorized dealership.

Michellin Xm2 is the best one , second best is Yokohama Advan decibal v551.

    Best of luck

Arite. One of the detailed reply I just wrote somehow got deleted.. :s

Here it goes again (well, some of it )

Thank you very much Umair for the reply and suggestions. Unfortunately, I could not read that and went for the tire change. It is quite a long story but in the nut shell, I went for Advan DB v551 in 195/65R15 Size from authorized reseller of Yokohama.
It all started with Continental CC5 in same size, which I had to remove after installation of front two tires coz their country make was tempered and I lost the trust there. Then I had to select between XM2 and Advan. The salesman somehow convinced me on Yokos. 195/60 is hardly available with the shops here and if we find any, they are quite old tires in terms of manufacturing dates. Plus every local tire dealer tries to convince that he is selling a better thing than others.

Khair, MashaAllah the drive is prettttyyy smooth now. It feels better than a stock city and in control. Also I am aware of the fact that if I don't drive carefully, these huge tires might damage the suspension. 195/60 is the ideal size but I am that kind of driver who literally stops the cars at Cat-Eyes and Road Damages. Let's hope that it stays well. Plus its quite a soft tire so the hardness of the suspension feel somewhat softer now. Another major change is the look of the ride and I am posting a picture for your reference.

All I have installed is the window blinds and the door visors.

    My initial feedback

    - The car is bumpy on stock tires coz of hard suspension mostly.
    - Seats are not bad as I read from the earlier threads.
    - Leather quality is just fine, nothing superb
    - Audio quality is much better than my expectations.
    - Handling is arite, haven't tried the 'panga' thing yet
    - Very very responsive in every gear
    - Alloys look beautiful and are of good quality
    - Utility package does not seem worth for the price paid
    - White is one of the gorgeous colors for this city
    - Interior is beautiful as compared to Corolla
    - Engine Sound is more sporty
    - If you drive on extreme petrol bachat scheme in Lahore, you might be able to get 13.5 KMPL in initial miles (break-in period)

I am going to Islamabad next week via Motorway, will update you guys of my experience on higher speed.

P.S. We have two brand new cars (GLi 1.6 and Aspire 1.5) from same year (2014). I am waiting for initial few thousand KMs on both cars, then I'll be able to compare them in a more appropriate manner.
