Cool Owner's Club: Honda City Aspire 2013 1.5L

    Hi Guys,

I thought all 1.5L Aspire owner's can come under one roof and share their opinions about this car and the unique engine type which has been introduced for the first time in Pakistan in ivtec. This will also provide a good reference point to standard City and Aspire 1.3L owners and help everyone make an informed decision to the age old conflict between Standard City or Aspire when it comes to new purchase.

    Areas of Focus:
    Engine Performance
    Entertainment System
    Navigation/GPS Performance
Handling/Braking considering new Aspire is 1.5L
    and many more ..........

All opinions and suggestions are welcome.

@Scorlean I am sorry this is offtopic reply but are you a chartered accountant??A very dear friend of mine used to write scorlean as his favourite nick.

i will make video of acceleration for you as soon as i get petrol
I currently have 2011 city and the things i hate about manual is the high rpm, pressing clutch during traffic jams and very less throttle response while overtaking.. But i have heard p/t have a bad fuel eco?

What do you need it for, if only the pattern is damaged you can get a duplicate key made by a local key maker in 3-500rs He will pull out the chip from ur orignal key and install that in a similar frame.

I got it for around 700k from desi key maker. That is good enough since the second key they keep at bank isn't a remote controller either.

1.5 all the way. But if you drive in extra urban conditions only then consider 1.3

    Red face First Impressions

I have been driving 2013 Honda City 1.3 M/T and 2012 Corolla GLi for past two years. Recently I sold the City and bought a new Aspire 1.5 P/T. I would like to share my first impressions and experience so far.

Exterior: Not much different except for the rear lights and chrome grill. Rear Lights look good, but probably because they are a fresh look. There are subtle differences in Bumper too, but can be appreicated with both old and new models in front. Never cared for the side mirror lights.

Interior: Chromed Knobs don't add much to the previous simple ones. Leather interior is good but you don't get that luxurious feel when seated. Meter light theme change to blue(ish) is good on eyes. Multimedia and Navigation are OK, but the software looks like chinamobile set type and the touch screen response is not the best out there. Dashboard and other plastic is same as previous.Nevertheless interior looks and feels better compared to previous one.

Comfort: It has much improved comfort compared to 1.3 city i had, probably because it is heavier. It is also sturdy than 1.3 city and althought it still doesn't quite reach Corolla or Civic in terms of comfort, I found its drive pleasant and pleasureable, even without changing the stock tyres. My previous city had Yoko tyres.

Fuel Efficiecy: I made a round trip to Islamabad from Peshawar and found that fuel consumption was same as my previous City, if not better. ECO indicator is helpful, and RPM at 100 is around 2. This was a pleasant surprise and I am able to get 16kmpL on long drive and about 12 local... which isn't bad compared given it is 1498cc.

Engine response: I felt 1.3L struggled a bit on ascending slopes such as going to Murree or Pir Sohawa.Aspire 1.5L seems better suited for such situations and has good torque. Drive in Prosmatic is smooth and in traffic jam feels like a blessing.

Car arrived in about two weeks, as promised by the dealer.

.... and navigation looks accurate so far. With only about 20k difference in price, i think 1.5 aspire will sell better than 1.3 aspire.

I own 1.3 automatic / prosmatec. over a period of 411 days and history of 41 fuel fill-ups I am getting an average of 14.17 kmpl. this is the actual figure and not what is displayed on the meter. I have consumed 1,247.08 Litres of fuel over 17,668 Kms worth Rs. 129,727. best milage is 15.75 and worst mileage ever got 12.24 kmpl. all actual figures and my AC runs all the time even in winters. at speeds of 120 kmph on highway it gives 13.5 to 14 kmpl. at 100 kmph 16 kmpl.

car is 2009 model with 88k Kms on the odo. and it has the old ECU version with no upgrade (car idles at 600-700 rpm unlike the newer models which idle at 1000 rpm)

now coming to your question if i were having a 1.5 city i think I would have got a nearly the same mileage over the same period and on highway much better due to better power to weight ratio. because my driving is a combination of highway and urban and not urban and extra urban.

Honda City Aspire 1.5 M/T Review.
We have this car for over a year now (august 2014 purchase) and have done 74,000km.
My review will be best because I am pretty sure none of you have put so many miles on ODO like my dad did.

Comfort: Not a very strong point of City but it is not that bad. Car feels very sturdy and Cabin noise is also very less. Suspension is hard so you feel everything even if that is a small stone. Seats are good and very relaxing for long routes (My dad never complained because he is always on long routes). Leg room is good. AC is very good.

Handling and Grip: Handling and grip are great. Never felt that car is under steering. Brakes are excellent. Currently using 175/65/15 stock general tires. But i am planning to get 195/60/15 Yokohama tires.

Fuel Efficiency: Getting 14-15kmpl local and 15+kmpl on highway. Mileage was 16+kmpl on highway before 50,000km. After 50,000km the average dropped down to 15+kmpl on highway.

Engine: if someone has any doubt about 1.5l aspire then my advice is to take it for a ride and then check it yourself. You will be amazed. My dad did 190km/h on peshawar Motorway (challenged a Premio), even on that speed the car was asking for more accelerator.

I think that aspire 1.5 is an excellent small sedan with decent features, great engine, excellent grip, and decent fuel economy.
I will upload pictures of my car as soon as I get free (very busy these days). I am pretty sure you guys will fall in love with my car
