hi there. aoa guys. so finally got the time to get the work done for which i was waiting since pretty long. got the idea from @Legal_rebel for whom i m thankful for the guidance to the mod.
so this is how it goes. when u turn the parking light on, only one bulb is illuminated and when the brake is applied, the light on the extreme most also glows. the inner most portion of the lights (right next to the number plate) never glows, and neither is a reflector as that is placed next to the reverse light. actually there is a space made there where the civic grip comes perfectly in it, but these Honda thieves have not given us an extra bulb to save the cost, and instead have sealed that place. so all that is needed to be done is to remove the plastic portion and fix the holder , and u r good to go. so i installed a double filament bulb there so that it can be used for both parking and brake. furthermore, i also replaced the farthest most bulbs (the ones which only turn on with the brakes) to double filament so that they also serve the dual purpose. i didnt touch the center bulb (for parking light) but altered it as such that it only glows when the brakes are applied. attaching the pictures...i personally love this setup of the lights much much more than the standard arrangement, which i actually find pretty boring
When you say that you altered the center bulb so that it doesn't light up with the parking lights but only when braking, how is that done? Also, is the stock center bulb double filament since it lights up for both parking and braking?
Great mod looks very Audi-ish.
aoa. Sorry for maybe one of the most delayed reply on Pakwheels but i m not much active anymore cause of the routine. well bro the center bulb in stock city is NOT double filament. It only lights up with parking light and goes off when u turn the light off. It has nothing to do with brake. Therefore, it stays single filament. The outer most is by default double filament for more light on braking. I have installed double filament on both outside and inside of the car with the arrangement that on parking light only their ONE filament is on, and middle bulb (the single filament one) is off. when brake is applied, the second filament of side bulbs and the lone filament of center bulb lights up
Sir @waleed80 kindly tell me that how or with the help of which tools I am able to cut the plastic cover to mske the place for holder fitting ! Plz read my above post, reference pic is also their ! Plz plz reply me fast ! I want to do this DIY asap !
Salam @waleed80 ! Sir, I recently bought a city 2014 model and I want to do this DIY on my city too ! But I have a query regarding this DIY, today after having an eye on this thread, I just ran towards my car and opened one of its tail light, but I am confused that how can you people make that hole in which new civic holder is fitted ! I mean the plastic is fixed at the place of holder and it is unremovable ! Now, my question is HOW or with which tool you people managed to cut it properly without messing it up ??? your replies are very much heipful for me, as I am very interested in doing that DIY on my car. Here is a reference pic.... on next page
This isn't a big deal at all. The guy had a metallic file and with that he cut the hole. The covered area is EXACTLY the size of civic bulb holder. And yeah get it done m the car looks a much wider look at night and way better breaking light in day. For any assistance, you can whatsapp me on 03200555536. Regards
