Default Honda City 3 years only 15,500 km RPM

    Guys,
Recently i have been noticing engine noise similar to what you get with high RPM when you rev up the car at what i think are low speeds while i am driving. I have been driving a 4X4 Nissan Xtrail for the past 6-7 months so my driving habit might have changed to take more pick form the car which i did not do before. Please confirm if the following RPM is ok for city at the speeds and gear given.

    Gear 1 Speed 20 RPM 3.2
    Gear 2 Speed 37 -38 RPM 3.0 - 3.1
    Gear 3 Speed 57- 58 RPM 3.0
    Gear 4 Speed 75 Rpm 3.0
    Gear 5 speed 110 RPM 3.3- 3.5

These are some of the data i noticed while driving today. I will confirm again when i drive tomorrow. Can you confirm if the RPM for the given gear and speed are ok for this car

Definitely not okay. My liana goes to 27-28 at 3-3.2k on the first gear and crosses 40.
Has your car's regular maintenance been carried out?

    ur car is fine
however ur driving style seems to be quiet "un economical"
keep light foot, change gears quickly/lower rpm for better fuel avg
Life is short and very unpredictable just like a Quarter mile .....

whats up with everyone trying to drive at idling speed. Wring it out - I usually take my E320 on a spirited burst - redlining the engine - the 3.2 v6 sounds good too.

@OP: 1st Gear 3.2K RPM till 20KPH only Something is not right. Go through some regular and obvious maintenance such as filters/engine oil. Change your petrol pump too. If the situation improves; well and good, otherwise get a diagnostic check.

I am with you when you said you feel different after driving your X-trail. You get hard wired for a car and when you go to another car with less performance you expect the same response from the engine and other stuff. Happens to me too. On Mondays when I am usually back in Islamabad driving my Swift after Cuore sessions in Lahore on the weekend, the first time I brake it is like screeeeeeeeeeech and I am like whoops! forgot that the Swift has better braking, better be light on the brake pedal . Happens every Monday

Disclaimer: (Drive responsibly people!) Just saw an accident in I/10 today involving a Bolan. The driver died probably (unconfirmed and hoping not), judging by the big pool of blood on the road.

I do grandma style driving everyday because well too much traffic everywhere and no open roads but if I have a clear stretch (long road; no intersections, no pedestrian crossing), it is pedal to the metal. The normal slow driving style I feel is a bit taxing on the person driving. It makes you lazy. Driving fast probably increases your reaction times; that is just my opinion. It doesn't hurt to push it once in a while but do it on open roads.

engineer sahab aap hi bta dein problem ka solution? People here cannot help just by telling the guy just to do this and that. 10 moun 10 batain. Somebody will say do this; another one wills say do that. Let him take the car to a Honda service center; get it diagnosed and hopefully his problem will be resolved.

Apart from some really knowledgeable people on PW, many are just hobbyists/enthusiasts who just happen to love cars; just like my self. We just do not have a car culture here in Pakistan; if you know what I mean. Nobody has answers to everything, mostly it is a hit or a miss. The best thing is to first get the car diagnosed by an authorized service centre.

About wasting time with a 3S; would you rather trust a shade tree mechanic who don't work with a workshop manual. These guys do not even know how to properly torque nuts. Given that there are some really good mechanics but that is purely subjective.

If a person is so technically inclined, better buy the tools; get a workshop manual for the car and take care of the problem at home. No use in spending unfruitful time at the forums only to go to a stupid mechanic who doesn't understand a word of what you will ask him to do.
