    Hello
I wanted to know which engine oil should I change to and when I should ?Considering engine friendly and better mileage please give me a clue to what engine oil is .Like keeping a check on it with the engine fuel stick thing. I know a few facts though but i wanted to get it straight from the experts .PS my car is almost 1900 km driven

Use Honda mineral oil until 5000km.

Mineral oils are better when breaking in New engine than synthetic or F. Synthetic.

After 5000km, use Honda fully synthetic oil. It's a good oil and you get to keep warranty .

No offence but you have a very little knowledge about oils.
World-wide fully synthethic oils are used in new cars.
The oil grade which you have suggested '10w-30' is meant to be used in old engines.
Secondly about that performance 'thingy' Synthetic oils are proven to give much better performace then mineral oils.
Use what the manafacturer and manual guides!

Mineral is only useful for old engines and when breaking in. I personally started using fully synthetic 5-40 when my swift hit 3500km. Always used fully synthetic oils.

You can switch between any oil you want as long as its viscosity is within engine and environment specification.... its is just a myth popularized by some people that brands should not be changed, no practical justification is available for this.... Thinner oils provide better lubrication but problem with old engines is that their clearences increase which make thin oil burn in cylinders so mostly thicker oils are recommended in older engines....use the thinnest oil that fulfills engine and environment specifications....

Bro concept of mineral and synthetic oils has nothing to do with purification thing...
Mineral oils are considered inferior as you cannot experiment with them to a great extent...it is something that exists naturally...has mostly chains of higher Carbon number hydrocarbons....you can just add aditives and to some extent change Carbon chain structure by isomerization and alkylation....but you cant play as much as you want and you cant increase lubrication properties of oil as much as you want...
To over come this synthetic oils were introduced that contains man made polymeric chains....and in this way desired and better lubrication properties of oils are achieved....As they contain man made molecules/polymers so they are called synthetic oils...
