Default Honda City Ivtec 2011 serious pickup issue and RPM drop

    Dear Pakwheelers & Gurus

I need your help and suggestion

i have Honda city 2011 (51,000 km) manual on petrol only and maintained by Honda never seen any other mechanic
    below are the issues

    1. With AC my car RPM drops to 400 or less when idle or when i apply clutch for gear change.
    2. simultaneously with AC car pickup die and i feel like riding a donkey cart. and it is embarrassing specially when i am in the front of a red signal.
    3. over all acceleration is also very pathetic with AC. some times when i accelerate from 0 speed on first gear there is no response and after 2 to 3 seconds car suddenly accelerate

car has been checked by different Honda dealers in Karachi they all say you need to fill Hi-Octain 50% with normal petrol
i have done this even with 95% Hi-Octain of PSO Caltax & Shell, had my throttle body serviced also but with AC result is same and average is around 11km/ltr
But when i drive my car without AC results are totally different pickup becomes great and it accelerates nicly and average is around 15 to 16 Km/lts

please help me as what can be done to improve pick up and acceleration with AC

Bro i believe your ECU has gone haywire , try disconnecting you positive terminal , leave it over night , hopefully it will reset the ecu. Or there might be a short or a fuse must have been blown, check the fuses on the battery terminals and also the ones under the dash

I dont know why honda dealership suggest you such a lame option, we never felt this on our city 2012 60k on odo, always filled up with regular petrol. Must me some issue linked with ac and ecu malfunctioning when ac turned on. Once your problem is solved please share the solution here.

Try driving another city and see is it different than your car or not. From your description your car looks normal as it happens to all the cars. You can not expect hard acceleration with ac.

LOL. He said the RPM drops to 400 when he switch on the AC. Thats definitely not normal.
I have a City i-VTEC and it behaves absolutely normal on AC.

Even civics rpm falls when ac is turned on and there is a little effect on acceleration as well. And frankly speaking every 1.3 loses power city swift corolla.

sir, real issue is the lag, let me give u an example
during traffic jams when traffic is moving inch by inch what i face is that when i apply clutch rpm drops to 400 instead of 1000 or 900, now when i apply accelerator rpm remains at 400 for 2 or 3 secs and there is lag then suddenly it rises up to 1000 and then things become bit normal.
in effort to drive normal i apply more acceleration and in result fuel average suffers.
what i want is rpm should continuously at 900 or 1000 at idle or neutral with AC

    Default it is not normal

I own a 2012 city . I driven it up to 200 kmph with AC . It only effects my AVG but tge acceleration is not much effected . Get your air filter cleaned and make sure there are no air leaks in the intake , check this by putting your hand over the intake , and see if the car stalls then its some other problem.
