Thread: black dry carbon on tailpipe honda city idsl

    Default black dry carbon on tailpipe honda city idsl

    Aoa
    I need expert opinion. Mechanic sprayed carb cleaner after takin out throtle box as a part of tuning process..since then my car tail pipe has black dry residue... Before that tail pipe was clean and brown like a new car...
    Can u plz wat may have gone wrong how can i get it fixed..has petrol mixture is disturbed or some sensor issue?

    Nothing has gone wrong if your car was ok previously.....carb cleaners are combustable..when they are sprayed in TB engine runs rich during the process producing soot and carbon that gets deposited....hopefullg it will clean with time....

    Clean it and then see if it comes back too early then you are running rich. this symptom is for car using more fuel than required. Also it is normal for cars to have little bit of that but not too much. inspect your spark plugs to see their color

    Try resetting the ECU;

    i suggest stop worrying about it, if the car is giving the normal fuel avg and performance.

    the car gives smoke when the carb cleaner burns, that is why the pipe got darker, it will clean itself in a couple of days

    did your mechanic adjusted the valve clearance aka tappets???

    Thanks all for reply.
    No mechanic didnt adjusted the tappets.

    I clean it every morning and again it comes back...shd i wait for like 1000 km...
    I read on this forum that some guy has similar problem..he got his car scanned and it was fixed by some values adjustment frm computer..is it true? Cuz i went to mechanic n he said no such things exist

    It's normal, don't play with this and leave it alone.

    Yes, removing the + battery terminal over night.
    Check the air cleaner, is it chocked or not properly seated. Also check the rubber pipes attached to the throttle body for proper fit & tightness. And the bolts of throttle body.

    If all is OK. Then just drive, should be ok after a few 100kms.
