    Default Engine Knocking Honda City

    Assalam-o-alaikum,

I have a Honda City 2005 model. It worked great for years but since past 6 months or so, its drive is no more smooth at all and a lot of engine knocking noise too. Not as responsive on accelerator as it used to be. What I did to get it fixed:

    1. Tuning - tappets adjustments more than once in last three months etc
    2. Tried running on Hi-Octane (performance improved but certainly not up to the mark)

The workshop men say that its just bad fuel problem and nothing else. Does it mean all cars (or at least Honda Cities) in the city are facing same problem?... unrealistic. Engine knocks so much that it has become a very bad drive.

Any suggestions? What can be the reason? I asked mechanic to check fuel filter but he said these are not symptoms of a dirty fuel filter. I used to drive on CNG a year back but not any more obviously.

Another thing I noticed and forgot to mention in my original post is that occasionally it becomes a lot better even on same fuel. Like if I get fuel tank filled one day and it keeps knocking and bad drive whole day but the very next day, without any refill, it would behave a lot better. No particular pattern observed though.

Engine knocking mostly occurs when fuel is not good but in some cases like yours and mine also is due to humidity in air when moisture in air is high the engine have no knocking due to ideal fuel air mixture because the density of air is high, when moisture level is too low (mostly in winter ) the density of air is also getting low thats why we are facing knocking problem without any fuel refills next morning .
