Default Honda City 98 Engine swap

    Hello everyone

Well this is my first official thread so I hope everyone will bear with me and help me out as I'm swapping my engine.

This car has been with us from the beginning and we were the first owners of the car. It has gotten really old now as it has 300k kilometers on it. I must say that the original engine was a beast and took excessive beating but still survived for so long but finally gave up.

I was looking for a decent engine to replace the old one but could not decide on which one to put into it. After excessive searching in Bilal ganj I finally decided to buy the 1.6 VTEC engine which comes in the Civic CF models ( 2002-2005).

I got a good deal and got the complete engine with wiring, ecu and compressor for about 45k .
Bought the fuel pump as well which will be installed now as it had a 1.3 carburetor engine.

Got the engine fitted today. I'm using the original gearbox and it fits perfectly. The engine fitted nicely without any probelms. Will be doing the electrical wiring setup tomorrow.

Will post pics soon. I would also need help and guidance regarding the outside paint and the engine bay detailing.

Looking forward to hear from you guys soon...
    Hassan.

Now you will enjoy the taste of creepy and ustad alterations.

Why you choose the 2002 model engine when d15 or d16 engine is available which fit bolt to bolt in your car?

    BTW where are the pics?

Yes shabbir, I did consider the overhaul option but it was way too expensive. Plus finding the carburetor for this engine is difficult so switched to an efi engine. I also found the 1.3 engine a bit underpowered so got a 1.6

Well I thought of the 1.5 efi non VTEC but those engines were expensive and besides those engines are too old now...the engine series I bought is comparatively newer.. And you can easily find parts for this engine. Even if you blow an engine you could easily replace the assembly and it would cost you around 22-25k Rs.

Please note that the D16W generation isnt a bolt on fit on your car. The mounts are totally different.
The older D-series however is a perfect bolt on.

You can't install the newer generation D without changing a couple of mounts.

    Well yes and no.
All the engines mounts were bolt on except for just one...the one with the belts..that had to be modified a little which wasn't an issue. I'll see tomorrow what happens next. Up till now things are going smoothly.

BTW congratulations on a successfull project. It was an awesome job you did with your city. Will be in touch with you as I would be needing help with the paint job and other stuff which I will discuss with you after I'm done with the engine work. :-)
