hey i just bought honda city 2010 and the mileage i m getting with 50% long and 50% city driving is 10.5km/l or max 11km/l .
i thought city used to do better mileage but i am disappointed in the mileage i am getting. and my driving style is okay most of the time i try to keep RPM below 2..

Sell the car. It has become a PITA now and will continue to do so.

These are the realistic mileage figures of every 1.3 Automatic car. Be it a corolla or city.
Your car is perfectly fine. If you want more mileage. Sell this and get manual. Manual city delivers 13-14km/l with AC locally.

    Default wah trip average

I used to get 16-17 km/l in a 2009 corolla xli by driving with light foot. then i got a civic. i was shocked to get 11-12 km/l no matter how much the light foot was. then after 5000-6000km it started giving me 14.5-15.5 km/l. if i travel 50% of the time with heavy foot and 50% of the time with light foot in the civic in city then it gives me around 12.5-13.5 km/l.

i do not use econ, unless on highways and cruise control. i got 17km/l on civic on trip via motorway from Islamabad to wah and back in civic. so i guess this is the highest so far. i hope it improves further but don't expect more from a 1.8 engine. Am attaching the pic for wah trip average. my phone camera is acting up so excuse the bad quality.

lower consumption is effected more by light foot rather than keeping under a certain rpm. i have tested this and can confirm, that at the same rpm and speed i can make the car (civic) 12km/l or 15km/l. using the same speed and rpm check how much average is the car meter showing you. if it's low raise your foot from the accelerator enough so the speed does not drop but the average goes up. try this a few times and it will improve your normal driving style in some time.

And yes, if you have a city giving you that much milage then either your average is lowered by driving in extreme rush areas rather than long stretches or you have a heavy foot. it is not normal for a city to give so bad a milage otherwise. figure out the reason.

Drive with light foot if you want good mileage. It also matters where u fill up from. My civic prosmetic on pure high octane gives 12+ in islamabad with ac.

someone asked me the question of weather or not they should use all hi-oct. i didn't have sufficient knowledge to respond. could you tell me what effect it would have? i came to the conclusion that if ron level requirements are RON 91, then the ratio of hi-oct to regular/super... should be 2:3. lower is bad for car as the design is for RON 91 or higher. how much higher and ...... hope you are getting what i am saying.
