Default Honda City i-DSI 2006 bad mileage, in need of help

    Hi,
I recently got a Honda City 2006 I.D.S.I, I have spent almost close to 1lac rs on it. My problem is the mileage, it is giving me close to 11km/l on motorway with AC on at 120km/h average, the city mileage is even worse 9km/l with light throttle.
I have done almost everything Imaginable in the pursuit of restoring it to it's former glory. Almost more than a year ago i was able to achieve 18km/l easily on motorway.

Here is a list of things i have done.

1- Tuning the old engine from Honda 3s.
    2- Tappet Adjustment.
    4- Cleaned the throttle body.
3- Changed all 8 spark plugs to NGK BKR6EGP G-Power Spark Plug (Platinum Tips)
4- Changed the Shocks front and rear to new NGK one's.
5- Changed Front and Rear break pads.
    6- Changed The Clutch Plate.
7- Changed the fuel filter/fuel pump.
8- Changed the air filter several times.

All of the hard work above made a slight change but nothing like the good old days.

At the end i got tired and decided to do a complete engine swap, I opted for a L15A I.D.S.I instead of the factory O.E.M L12A. I changed the whole Assembly plus the Ignition, Ignition Coils, A.C compressor and generator And still nothing close to 18km/l.

    NOTE:
One last thing on my to-do-list is that last year i changed my rims/tires from 175/r13 Dunlops(almost no tread) to 185/r13 Hankooks, and rims from OEM to stainless steel 13 inches. Maybe this is the achilles heel here in my case.

I'd be very delighted and thankful for all the help i could get from you guys.

    Regards,

One last thing. After the engine swap i noticed something new on the engine that wasn't there before for which the wiring has no connections to. It is circled in red in the following pictures.

    Bro get your injectors checked...
For leak test and spray pattern....
Also check the engine compression...engine with weak compression will never give u good mileage...

Have u checked the ECU you have bought with the engine? Was the ECU changed when u installed L15A idsi engine? That red circled component is EGR. Exhaust Gas Regulator. It needs to be connected. Seems like after engine swap electrical connections are messed up.

EGR eh? nice catch bro the local mechanics didn't know what it was because the EGR doen not come in the paki IDSI's. No I am currently using the old ECU/wiring. Although i do have the L15A wiring(planning to change it in the near future).
P.S: If i do not connect the EGR what will be the drawbacks?

If i am not mistaken here EGR fall in emission control device but chances are there that it can mess fuel economy

Bro I did not have an EGR in my older factory OEM L13A engine and it was also giving me bad fuel economy. Maybe it's my tire size?

That's now past. Now u need to complete the swapped electrical wiring to factory standard. Download the factory manual from Honda city fan Club and use it for wiring diagrams. Next thing is to remove those platinum tipped spark plugs and install factory standard ones. Third is to check the car via Honda diagnostics tool for detailed error log if any found and correct it again. Jdm spec tires are 14 inches so no big thing.

To be honest i wanted a bit more power, Although my previous engine(200000 ODO) was doing just fine. I have not checked the catalytic converter either, where is it located? Where can i find a new ECU for L15A? any idea about the price?

Thanks bro will go for an ECU hunt in shoba Peshawer, ECU number would be nice if you could provide me with one? Although you are right i won't find one because i guess L15A came only in Auto tranni(correct me if i am wrong). Car is not sluggish but has very bad mileage, is the catalytic converter in the middle dholki(so called) between the rear exhaust and the engine? if so, i have been noticing a crackling like sound at high RPM for over a year now. I got it checked and the guy said the inner plates are broken and it does not affect the mileage etc maybe he was wrong.

buy l15 ecu and wire the sensor ... khajal khawari wala kaam hai wiring ka ... try kero k wire mai cut na ayen aur agr silencer old idsi ka hai to catalytic converter ni hga us mai .... catalytic converter b lagwana par sakta hai agr l15 ki ecu mai catalytic convrtr ka b connection hua to .. egr valve b tune karana par sakta hai new wirung k sath

btw junoon se barh k kuch ni hta khajal khawari hai phr power is yours ... however oxygen sensor b lage shyd agr bahar ki ecu lagegi 1.5 engine ki

The exhaust gas re-circulation valve (EGR) diverts 15% of the exhaust gases into the intake manifold to lower the combustion temperature and to reduce the Oxides of Nitrogen. It also plays a vital role in promoting the fuel economy.
