    Post Recommended Engine Oil for Honda City 2010

    Hi;
    I am running City 2010 totally on petrol, fully maintained by Honda service center since Day-1. When ever I go to Honda Center Rawalpindi (Peshawar Road) they recommend and change oil with Honda original synthetic. I am facing no issue at all as far as car pick / performance / mileage is concerned. Current mileage of my car is around 110,000KM. Different people say when ever car cross mileage of 80,000km synthetic oil should be replaced with Mineral Oil or with some high grade oiling.

    What is the logic behind it, and should I also stop using Synthetic despite Honda says use the same?

    Regards.

    That is an old myth now.
    Synthetic oils are simply Engine Oils with extra properties. Many people think Synthetic oils are like “Acid” and it will destroy the engine. Its wrong concept and is not like that.

    If you are already using mineral oil (which normally comes in 10w-30, 10w-40, 15w-40 and 20w-50. That means you are not feeding the recommended oil to your car.
    Honda recommends 5w-30 of SL, SM grade.
    So you better shift on 5w-30 and keep the change interval like 5~6K depending upon your driving habbits.

    5w-30 comes in semi synthetic and in fully synthetic also.
    Prefer the one which is fully synthetic.

    Synthetic is better than mineral, it is more stable, it cleans better and the OCI is higher because it maintains its form unlike mineral oil.
