Cool MY 2011 city today gave an average of 18.5 KM/L on the highway

Today i had to go to Makli. It was almost a 200 km round trip.My car gives 12-12 km/L in the city and i have heard that it gives around 14 on the highway.Although i know that the city has a well reputation for fuel average but i wasn't expecting it to be this good. The average might have increased on the way back but i hit rush hour traffic.Has any one else experienced anything like it?

only tank full method and what you actually hand over to the pump guy method(divided by km's covered)
    for avg works for me
i dont trust these fancy meters

next some kid with mira will post avg with 32km/ltr (in actual his car would be doing 16)

no working fcd in the world over reports mileage by 100%. Hondas actually under report in some cases.

Anyways why do people mistrust fcd's, but trust odometers and speedometers?

So in your opinion honda have hired some engineers who put screens from old calculators in cars and they show random numbers?Do you trust the display on your cell phone or is that just filled with random alphabets for no apparent reason.

I know 2 city owners with fuel gauge issues (one got it fixed by going back to 3S, they re calibrated )

last week i sat in a brand new gli corolla with plastic covers still on, car had 3/4th fuel and the needle was going to full by itself

    so yes
i will trust my casio calculator more then these fancy measurements

Default MY 2011 city today gave an average of 18.5 KM/L on the highway

Driving this specific Honda city generation since 2009 and I can carefully say don't believe what on board mileage calculator on longer routes.

For local driving it works fine with less variation.

One thing I've noticed is that pre facelift models with red odo cluster have more variation and the facelift models have very less variation in actual mileage and what on board calculator shows.
I get around 15-15.5 km/l locally and on board calculator shows 16.0km/l.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Just one example.
If your injectors gets cloggy or leaky, the onboard mileage cannot be correct.

I have 2009 (Pre-Facelift) and the odo shows 16.5 km/l, but in actual, it is giving 15.5 km/l with AC within city, on light foot. So its not a rocket science or any strange thing, just keep the car maintained and it will give good average. Keep the plugs clean, air filter, oil, oil filter and the car will do fine.

These things hardly effect fuel economy; people with low maintenance platinum plugs, who change oil and filter at 24k km, and air filter every 40k km, still manage double the EPA rated mileage.

The +5 km/l boost pakwheelers seem to get every oil change is nothing but a placebo.

My brand new city shows around 20 km/l on long routes with speed of 80km/h
i also check the fuel average by starting the journey with full tank and at the end of trip i also fill the tank to full i always gets the difference of 1 to 1.5 km/l with that average which shows on odo. actual average is around 1 to 1.5 km/l less than the value which odo meter shows
when i went for the first check up of my car i told that thing to Honda Engineer he told me that the odo shows the average of running car it cant show the average of standing car on signal that's why there is a difference in the actual value and the odo value

on highway with steady foot and speeds of 100-120km/h can yield very economical figures even from 1.8l cars too. Have personally seen a civic 1.8 give 15 on motorway. with speed not exceeding 120.

Whats the right average than? I mean there must be a +- formula. Btw i went to Peshawar yesterday on Motorway & Back from Islamabad. Full rain all the way, 130 km/hr (not suggested esp in rain) and got 17.5 km/l.
