Default Suggest First Car: Honda City 2000-2002 vs Honda City 2003-2005 vs Cultus EFI

Which of the following cars is better as a first car. I have just started to learn driving and I have narrowed down my search to the following three cars:

    1. Honda City 2000-2002
    2. Honda City 2003-2005
    3. Cultus EFI

My budget is 7.5 lacs and my priorities are the following:

    1. Safety
    2. Maintenance (I don't have any prior experience of maintaining a car)
    3. Comfort
    4. Resale Value

Please respond in detail with your reasons as I don't have much knowledge about cars and it would be great to learn from your experience.

Thank you and may Allah reward all of you for the help! Ameen.

Thank you for the reply. Why did you place Cultus above City 2000-02?

My reply was like this I didn't place anything above anything
    1. Safety - city idsi
    2. Maintenance -cultus
    3. Comfort -exi
    4. Resale Value - all three have good resale but cultus may sell quick
If you ask which car is best it will be like
    1)City exi
    2)city idsi
    3)cultus

I am taking driving classes from a school here and everyone I asked there was suggesting that I should get a Mehran first. I totally hate that car so there is no way I would consider getting it.

Do you think City EXI or IDSI is a good option for a complete beginner?

man if you want to learn how to drive then find a congested service lane of a busy market area... drive through it repeatedly and you will be an unbeatable driver in a week... money back guaranteed formula... and yes, always be ready to brake at a micromoment's notice... that is all it takes to not hit anything...

Anyone suggesting you to buy mehran as first car is right. And if I may suggest further, get a brand new car and mehran can fall into your budget as brand new.

Any second hand car that you buy will not be hassle free. You may take a mechanic or experienced friend with you to inspect and buy a car but whatever happens, it's your headache after you buy it. You will be standing in mech shops and negotiating repairs of a secondhand vehicle. Otherwise you will be taking an experienced friend to mechanic every time also so the mechanic doesn't fleece you.

Being a new driver, you may not understand much about different cars noises and problems also. A zero meter car will atleast keep you on road mostly and lesser trips to mechanic.

Many people drive cars they don't like but a hassle free mehran us better than a problem plagued 10+ years old car.

Firstly, thank you for your suggestions. A new driver needs a car that is safe, reliable and comfortable. Mehran is neither. In my 9 days of driving classes I got a chance to drive four different models of Mehran from Euro II to 2007 and the only difference I felt between them was that Euro II was a newer piece of trash and 2007 was an older piece of trash.

People that don't have a decent budget may have no other option but Mehran but I don't understand why anyone with a decent budget would waste his hard earned money on this piece of trash. I certainly won't.

Try to find a city Exis or idsi from the first owner and thoroughly maintained by Honda, this way you maybe able to find a troublefree car, but this process will be hectic and cost will be more than average market price.

Applied this mode in getting four secondhand cars/SUVs (i.e Honda City 2002 Exis (sold), Honda Civic Exi Prosmatec 2002 (sold), Honda Civic Exi 2003 (225k still enjoying and thoroughly maintained by Honda 3S, Toyota Surf 1999 (my daily runner and loving it)) and I am glad I got the best bet al hamd o lillah.

    And the famous saying;

Mehnga roye ek bar sasta roye barbar
