Default City 2005, add on security system installed, both remotes has stopped working, stuck, what to do?

Dear All. Title says all. My friend has a 2005 city. The car has a common security system installed in it (though horn removed so alarm does not go off). He is stuck in a market. Both of the remotes is not unlocking it. Light on remotes glow so they are OK (the probability of both going wrong at the same time is very low). So the car is locked and not unlocking, hence not starting. They removed battery terminal and reconnected (kind of thinking to reset the system). Did not work?
    Any quick help/fix.
    Thanks

For those who may come to this thread later, should know that replacing a fuse in the fuse-box resolved the problem. So it would be good if everyone having these alarm systems should know beforehand of the particular fuse that deals with alarm system and have a spare with them, just in case.
