Thread: Honda I-DSI 2004 Engine Issue

    Default Honda I-DSI 2004 Engine Issue

    Hello guys, your suggestions are required.

    I am running Honda City IDSI 2004 Model since last 2 years, Since last two months i have felt that my engine is reducing a quarter oil after 2000 Kms, I got it checked found oil seal was leaked, fixed it on the spot plus cleaning of all engine. Now the problem is its again reducing oil.

    I am using Caltex Havoline Motor Oil and used to change after every 3000KM as i have long and daily travel. I went to check it from three mechanics, i am writing their views

    1- Its smaller amount of oil reduction, can be cause by some seeem (saaim around gear box) or due to Hot weather and AC is on, (like apka AC ziada chalta hai tu oil b burn hota hai etc).

    2- Other mechanic said your engine is getting weak so its reducing oil.

    3- Third mechanic also checked this there is very slight white smoke from the silencer but no black smoke. He then changed the oil with STP oil formula and said to run it for 3000 and see if its still reducing oil then engine will be replaced. The reason he quoted for oil reduction is that i have used some 2number Oil.

    What should i do, engine oil reduction is start after 2000Km and i travel on a speed of 70-90km/h with AC on, no problem in running, no heating, and i can't feel smoke in massive amount.

    I am totally confused on the situation. Please help.

    even if its weak, let it run, a quart at 2000 km is not something to be worried about. Deal with it when it gets worse. This is in case the engine is weak.
    For starters, check under the car every morning to see if there is a leak, also clean the engine of all saim, and after your said thousand kms, check for saim. if there is saim or leakage, means a seal is leak, find it,fix it. if it doesn't happen, and your car isn't giving blue smoke. let it be

    Have a dry and wet compression test done to see if it's the piston rings. Do you constantly see the white smoke coming out or at specific times?

    Only in morning when start and i gives race, slight smoke can be seen ..

    Also let me know good place in lahore for compression test and its price.

    White smoke comes out of the exhaust when the head gasket leaks. The early sign of it failing is white smoke when it's started after the car hasn't run for a couple of hours. Keep a check on the coolant level. I don't know anyone who does it in Lahore. You can check the dealership I guess.

    Coolant level is as it is as it was 1 month ago, and in bottle also on the same level since a month. I think i should repair all the seals and seaamm cleaning. Then will see the result.

    Odo reading?
    Adding stp was bad idea anyway you should start like this
    1)clean pcv/breather pipe
    2)get compression test done
