In the title you said to compare between 2005 civic and 2010 city.

In your post you are comparing civic 2010 and city 2010.
Also its not me only who is saying it to be contradictory. Please read carefully and then tell what exactly you want to buy.
    Period.

Honda Civic Exi Prosm 2005 value as per the condition u have mentioned is somewhere 7 to 8 lacs maximum. You'll pay 150,000 so it means you are getting bachat of around 550,000 to 600,000 in this deal.

Otherwise when you compare Honda City 2010, as per the condition you have mentioned, it is somewhere around 1,050,000 or 1,100,000, whereas you'll have to pay 250,000 plus 480,000 in instalments equals to 730,000. The maximum bachat in this deal is 370,000 which can be extended to 400,000 maximum if we apply NPV formula. (Only one dash in selecting City is that you'll be driving a comparatively new and better car and that can be value at 1 more lac only)

So comparing all the odds Civic is a winner in it. Job change, car change. If u wont change the job, this Civic will be yours after two years. You would be again up for another car option. Tab ki tab dekhi jaye gi

Thanks for such a realistic advice. Can you review with following two suggestion as everyone is not going in much detail and suggest city due to latest model

1- City 2010 Prosmetic value should be around 1200,000 to 1250,000 Checked from the market.
2- Keeping old civic maintainance cost in perspective can still it be the best option

    Please recalculate and advice

Old Civic's maintenance cost is considerable but not that much. In the revised situation, nothing is different except bachat to u in case of civic and as compared to city is only one or one and a half lac. But you should also understand that car is principally yours as and when you accept this civic's deal. There is also one more thing you should understand this car obligation towards your company is also just two years instead of four years. Whenever you'll be making a switch of job, this car thingy will affect your decision. Remain independent and think wise.
