    Default AT vs Prosmatec

I want to know the differ between automatic transmission versions of City. 2009-2010 models are AT while latest model are Prosmatec. Both being automatic transmission what is the real difference? Is it worth getting expensive Prosmatec transmission in city while avoiding old AT models?

AFAIK, AT is usually 4 gears while PROSMATEC is 5 gears.

AT is also 5 gears. Personal experience. It's different technology, the gear shifts are better in prosmatec as compared to AT

    Prosmatic is also AT

Both Prosmatic and AT have same mechanics

    But
Prosmatic is advanced controled by synchronization bw car Ecu and prosmatic Built in Computer.

Thus providing smoother and smarter shifts thus you will not feel any power lag in hilly or other kind of roads.

While AT is.not so intelligent you can say

    These new Automatic Gears I.e
    PROSMATIC
    CVT
    SUPER ECT in Toyota

    Are much better than Mannual

Because they shift the car smoothly and qiuckly thus save time and comfort.

Also they keep the car at lowest rpm when cruising.

If you change AT oil regularly (at 50000km) and dont do anything stupid with it then they are cheaper to maintain than manula.

prosematic does more intelligent shifting, e.g. while AT may exhibit jerky shifts during aggressive driving, prosematic may request the ecu to do something with spark (can't remember what exactly) to lower the jerk hence provide a more smoother drive.

Thanks everyone, so I conclude the point that in terms of fuel consumption there is no difference just gear shifting are smooth in Prosmatec and AT can experience jerks.
