Default *NEW* Pakistan’s First Car: The Sitara City Cart

The Sitara City Cart, Pakistan’s first car to be designed and built in-country, is as basic as transportation can get. With a 170cc motor, the Cart may appear little more than a golf cart with bicycle wheels, but it can carry up to four people in relative luxury (that is, relative to hoofing it). The only options offerred on the Rs. 126,000 ($2,200) Cart are a canvas roof and a wooden shift knob, but it comes equipped with safety belts and a roll bar, and can be configured without a rear seat for carrying more stuff than people.

trust me i am tempted to buy one and modify it a bit but the price must not exceed Rs. 35,000 or say 40,000. Actually if I could get the chasis / frame only ... for less would be even better. This can be modified to look like the early Merc, Bentely or Rolls its just a matter of some deep down thoughts ... trust me guys .... help me get one for less !

It can be a start for a Pakistani Auto Maker.

There has been many such car companies around the world which started the same way.

Kia Automobile of Korea started making Bicycles in the 50s, then moved up the ladder to make the Motobikes and then cars. Now look at them.

Honda Motor Company of Japan was started by a car Mechanic after World War II. He started making an affordable Motobike first and then a small car and now the rest is history. It really takes a good business strategy, a good product, competitive pricing, and know where to market how to use the initial profit for reinvestment and continue to improve on the product specially in the first crucial years. Many new companies do not become profitable for years, then slowly when the trust builds in the market the profit start to take off.

Good luck to and well wishes to Habib Motors.

A rikshaw has a round plastic wind shield , the tyres and rims of the rikshaw are strong enough for pakistani roads , this thing however has cycle tyres and when 4 or make it 5 ppl sitting on , will make such a mess that company itself wont be able to repair their cracked chassis carts , the design it has can run on golf field so if u by mistake run it on 60 km/h on a toota hua pakistani road , this cart will crack down if not crackdown the wheels spockets will bend and the tube of those cycle wheels will burst , think of making it a load carrying vehicle ... place a ton (1000 kg) as they load a suzuki pickup to upto 2 tonns ... this thing will break into pieces... really i myself only can make a better thing than this ... with the help of a denter and a good mechanic ... and yes what about air-conditioning why dont the company come up with a cloth cover all around and put a small a/c in this ....lol

C123, I think this Sitara seems like a project by Engineering College students in their spare time, but
one thing is for certain, they should atleast get an "A" for the effort and taking the initiative. I am not rating the other categories, i.e. design, pricing, material used.

YOu are right, their is no dearth of skilled workforce. You can find a dime a dozen, skilled mechanics. Mainly, you need a well organized teamwork effort in all departments working seamlessly.

In mid eightoes when I was around 10 or 11 , mamoon of friend of mine imported a hideous looking Mazda van from dubai....we reckoned it was a marketing exercise to find out who would be world's biggest fool to buy such a comic car......I guess my friend's mamoon has some company now.

Moreoever I feel real sorry for the uncle and auntie who have 'unknowingly' modelled for the Sitara car in the adv.....can you imagine the ridicule they would have gone through while getting snapped near the 'snazzy' phase VIII gold course where the shoot seems to have taken place:-)

But giving teh devil its due, kudos for the seat belt, the rear red lights are actually pretty nicely alligned with the circular curves( not an easy task by local standards, and yes the web site is almost flawless and very professionally done...too bad the messneger is way too pretty than the message:-)

Shame on those who are making joke of it. Be Pakistani and buy Pakistani and be proud of it. It looks much better then the first model of mercedes and oldsmobile. And it is more respectable than a tonga or a rickshaw or a quinchee and also lots cheeper.
Also there website is much better than any of the japanies automakers who are selling cars here double the price then they are selling in US.
I dont know how people feel proud of sitting in American or japanies cars and make fun of local made

I have designed a new model of sitara cart called sitara lemo cart. Its good for families having 10 or 12 children (every common in our country) and cant afford an expensive car. It can also be used as a bridal lemo car during shadi functions.

Besides the fact that they got that contraption registered, there's hardly anything laudable about it.

I mean LOOK at people. 10 points for effort foe whoever did it, but actually thinking of it as start for the car maker in pakistan. Remember the Proficent anyone.

Visualize the reception that thing got and then put this...this..THING into perspective.

What was that Proficient all about? Can anyone give me more details about it? It was a pick-up, I think. Can anyone post its pictures here. Who were the promoters of Proficient? What were the reasons for its failure? Is there any chance that it will make a comeback?
    Evolution interrupted.

    Its 2005 brother.

    NOT THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION.

A cart with a flimy body and moyorcycle tyres isn't good enough. What would be commendable would be the sitara cart, made from metal produced in Pakistan, Tyres and rims in pakistan, an engine procued completely in Pakistan and so on and so on.

Making a contraption from the parts bin....ummm...don't think so..

Honestly, tell me. You had access to all thouse parts, would'nt you just build the same.

    Where's the initiative?
