Anis Bhai, I wish it could be as simple as this.. I read somewhere that this procedure is not as same as checking engine oil. To measure it correctly transmission has to be working in normal operating temparature and then while engins is On and gear in Parkign mode. The rpm has to be mainatained at about 1500 rpms for couple of minutes and then after turning off the engine the CVT-F level has to be checked between 60-90 seconds and ideally at this stage it should be between mid pont of the lower and Upper indicators of Hot indicator... I hope its understandable

I dont think so yar... Default tyre size for Steermatic is 185/55/R15 but it is 1500cc in comparison to 1300cc for iDSI... But thats just my point of view.. If this factor doesn't count then it should be ok

Hazir Janab Hazir , Sorry Sir for late reply , Maaf kar denaaa

Ok now here is the procedure :

Walk out , start her & heat her up until the radiator fan comes up , as stree don't have temperature gauge , walk out & give 1min(60sec) to settle the oil down , dont wait more than 90sec , now check the level from dip stick it should be between the upper & lower marks on the HOT side & here you go CVT level checked

^^ Welcome to PakWheels as this is your first post. As far as your query is concerned CNG is a NO GO area for steermatics but I have seen people running the car succesfully on CNG but with alot of timely maintainence and care.. Detailed information on this and rest can be obtained from going through this thread itself...

As far as the mileage is concerned. Almost all Steermatic owners are getting 12-13 KM/Litre within City and 16.5-18 KM/Litre on Highways/Long Routes.. So i dont think there is any need for installing CNG . Let me know if you want this to discuss in detail i will PM you my cell number.

Default Overview of the CVT Transmission

Rather than having a fixed set of gear combinations, or "ratios", the CVT transmission allows an almost limitless number of engine speed to vehicle speed ratios. This provides significant benefits over a traditional automatic transmission, including:
    • The computer can intelligently choose to have the Insight's gasoline engine and electric motor rotating at the optimal speed, regardless of how fast the car is travelling. When cruising under low power demand conditions, the engine & motor will turn relatively slowly, while they will turn faster when accelerating or climbing a hill. This provides improved fuel efficiency as compared to a typical automatic transmission.

    • Because of the smooth transition in gear ratios provided by the CVT transmission, the CVT Insight provides constant, stepless acceleration from a stop all the way up to cruising speed. This contrasts with the jerk of gear changes experienced with a typical automatic transmission.

    • The CVT transmission provides less power loss than a typical automatic transmission, resulting in better efficiency and acceleration.
Honda claims that their CVT transmission is the world's first mass-produced, high-power, stepless transmission. While such transmissions existed previously, they claim the CVT is "far superior in quality, endurance, power output [and] cost". They have also specifically designed the CVT to respond in the way that drivers are accustomed to other automatic tranmissions responding.
