    @retrograde

    i have sort of mastered the 'm' mode. Brought it down from Nathiagali in it as a final test.........one word.....AWESOME!!!!

    Sure as hell kicks *** in M mode....better than manual in the way that the acceleration is instant no waiting for the clutch.

    I feel like i play need for speed(nfs) driving to work and back......I AM IN LOOOOVEEEE!!!!!

    @moizhusain

    dunno bout karachi but here in islamabad, i have smoked all these cars(except for the VTi....looking for one ). The Liana eminent came really close , i think the only reason it lost was coz of the auto transmission.
    See no evil! hear no evil! do no evil!.....Overspeed?hell yeah!!!

    Salam

    @Retrograde no big difference in the acceleration but I felt that S mode is more efficiant than M, cause in S the RPM is maintained at a constant level with constant acceleration. M mode is better than any manual transmission as the time between shifting of gears is minimum. You get the results similar to toe & heal shifting.

    lol. this thread is funny.well kinda! anyways the steermatic's over-rated, just cuz its a city and it has a 1.5L engine with a great transmission, its not supposed to be the fastest! i have taken on a steermatic with a 1.6gti and the baleno gave it a 3 cars gap upto 140.

    so the point is, city vtec is a pretty fast car but not as fast as proper manuals.

    @RatedR

    As per my info, the 1.6gti gives a tough time to a M/T VTI, or sometimes can even beat it as well...and since we all acknowledge here that a Steermatic is not faster than a M/T VTI, so i dont see the problem ...

    It indeed is not the fastest, but hey, its pretty good for an auto and the triptronic type gear shifting is awsome

    ratedR: who is saying steermatic is the fastest...as far as baleno GTI is concerned, you are forgetting that it is has manual transmission.

    the main discussion is that steermatic tough being auto has great pickup and driving pleasure...

    why do people keep on discussing manual vs auto tranny....tough steermatic has manual mode but it cannot have the same response time of an actual manual!!! still steermatic can give u both smooth driving pleasure and superb accelaration (for an auto car)

    i am sure that a driver who is good on sterematic's manual mode with a bit of roll-on start can even beat an baleno gti but thats an assumption

    @retrograde: Not a standing start....i would loose on a standing start coz it takes a second or so whn the thing kicks off

    Listen i dunno if the steermatic is the fastest or not..(i think maybe the Baleno GTi could beat anything. Dangerous car!!!)...maybe the other drivers were complete wusses...i dont care....all i know is when we were done i was smiling ear to ear...like this

    And that is the point....auto manual....better or worse....after driving the steermatic.....its hard to be disappointed..coz it is so much fun!!!

    S simply increases the accelerator response.

    Drive in D or S (with 7 speed mode on but without M) and you'll know the difference.

    The acceleration is best when M is activated. Just floor the pedal and the tranny upshifts at 6100 or so by itself. If you are not using M then it upshifts at 5500 rpm. Since maximum power is at 5800 rpm M mode produces the maximum acceleration.

    What are you experiences?

    Have just received the Steermatic from my company. Have driven Vti's and Rollas previously. Steermatic is really awesome. Handling, acceleration and comfort level is all superb. You need a little getting used to by the response but once you get used to it, no doubt it a very very good car.(By local standards ofcourse)
    True that the ride is a bit hard, but as soon as you replace the tires, the whole world changes.
    For local commute and some weekend Hangamma its a perfect car.
