    @retro
    Degradation with time is due to oxidation of base fluid by free radicals. Degradation with mileage is due to the shearing effect. Both of these factors contribute to the aging of transmission fluids. That is why manufacturer's recommended intervals reflect both mileage and time-age and changes should be made according to which ever comes first.

    I am with ahmad on the engine oil though. You are paying more and getting less when you opt for honda's genuine motor oil. The supplier for honda atlas is caltex and honda uses the basic havoline engine oil. For the same price you can get havoline forumla(i use this one) from the open market.

    @ahmad
    Like i said i find no difference in quality between the two filters. I picked it up from metro and it has the exact same rubber side walls and filtering element. I have also seen so called guard filters else where and the difference in quality is glaringly obvious. It was a perfect fit too and i have been using it for over a week now with no problems what so ever. How it performs over time remains to be seen and i will continue to give input here.

    @bluntknife

    Can you take your own parts in to Honda and ask them to provide labor services only?

    I have never tried it but i do think they shouldn't have any problem with it. You are paying them for their ridiculously high labour charges after all.

    Can anyone tell me where to find the suggested iridium tipped spark plugs for my ride. The manual says i can choose between
    1) IZFR6K-13 (NGK)
    2) SKJ20DR-M13 (denso)

    I searched montgomery road with no luck.

    Hi Bluntknife,

    Go to Honda Pit stop at cavalry ground. I installed NGK iridium tiped plugs from there.

    For everyone,

    Honda city sales are biggest thief on earth. I had to leave my car for bumper and right rear door paint (some cyclist crashed into my car making a small dent and breacking RRV mirror ). They not only picked single penny from car but about 3 boxes of tissues, stuffed toy. The most annoying thing they changed new air filter just installed couple of days back.

    I could bear everything but about the filter, it was most aanoying, someone real ******* put back a torn 3rd class filter!!!!

    So beware and stay close to your ride when at Honda city sales!!!!!!!!!!!

    Further my steermatic still doing fine at 35,000 km on CNG. My 30% mileage is on petrol, rest is on CNG.

    Can someone sugesst what are the best tyres with existing original steermatic rims. Thanks.

    @Vazim
    Hey mate. I'll check cavalry honda pit stop for the plugs. About the tires, i think steermatic needs more rubber between the road and the rims. I find the ride too hard. I'd go for 185/60/15. See if you can find yokohama db ES501 in this size. Thanks for the tip on city sales. Do change your CVT fluid at 40k and just in case(though i sincerely hope not) the transmission develops a shudder or starts making noise then dont worry. I have found a mechanic who has corrected the problem in many vario's and a steermatic as well and you wont have to replace the transmission or any thing.

    I think they cost like, Rs. 2600 or 2800. Can't find receipt.

    no box, sorry. :p

    & yes about performance, it feel bit better but not by miles. Generally u feel good, u know ""my ride has got irridium plugs""!!:d

    The plugs may be NGK IZFR6k-11 instead of IZFR6k-13. These can be re-gaped and used in steermatic. I will use them if i cant find the ones specified in the owners manual. The IZFR6K-11 plugs are easily available as they are used in current generation civic.

    bluntknife,

    please check and do give us your feedback.

    thanks for the CVT advice. I am sure nothing nothing will happen as it is already has done 35,000 and there are people who have done closer to 45000 on steermatic without facing any issue.

    My impression is very similar to retrograde. It looks rather low to me.

    I am getting very good mileage from my steermatic these days, mashallah. Last tank averaged 13.32km/l and all of this was done in the highly congested traffic of the city of Lahore.

    I may be selling my steermatic in charcoal grey. I bought this in June 2007 and have done 38000 km. The car is in excellent condition and without any trouble. CNG kit also installed. Can some brother suggest what would be market value ?
