my frnd died 2 weeks ago frm today in a steermatic, could have been saved if steermatic was equipped with ABS.
now even almost all 1.3 cars are having abs.
take it into consideration b4 buying this car.
    otherwise its a great ride.
but lack of abs is alot for me to compensate.

Hey, i know the true story behind his death... but won't share here. But he died because he was driving 140 km/h on a road of 70 km/h while racing! May his sould rest in peace.

ABS & etc etc etc is always a 2nd thing.

The absence of ABS always keep me caution & bit more alert in steermatic
anyway whatever car you own (having ABS or NOT having ABS) drive safely.

Agreed with you sir, but the presence of ABS could have saved his life.
ABS is much more important then we think. I'm really glad to see that now it's offered in many 1.3 car's like city, rolla, swift etc.

    and Ameen.

Guys no doubt ABS is important but safe driving is the most important thing . I have Steermatic and I am not happy with its brakes. So lets find out a solution. Is it possible to fit ABS in steermatic? The new city has ABS with brake shoes at rear. Need advice.

tks ahmad for yr kind words really appreciate it and sorry for my late response as for last 1 week my car tracker was giving me lots of problem so finally it got fixed including the immobilizer kit which also got replaced, ride needed good cleaning and bit of care as normally it stands and nobody driving it so i decided to clean it by my self.
took abt 3 hours of time will post the picture soon.

so 1st thing it got installed is a gas saver tire valve cap putting a link over here for u fellows to see

    Legacy: Product Details 800-645-8258.

as my TPMS for last few months started to give problem (i was informed by home its NOT WORKING) as normally happens to electronic items so i bought this from usa.
it fits good and working nicely.

other items i will post soon insha ALLAH.

fellows my ride tires have done 30k now , they are almost four years old , they are yokohama db decibel e-spec dna series 195/60-R15. only 1 tire got 1 puncture and other are absoutely fine, no crack on side walls, threads are still in very good condition not facing any problem with them but i read some where that their rubber life is of 4 years from the date of manufacture.
1 tyre shop told me that i should run them more abt 10k as still too much life left on them, even if i sell them they are not fetching more than 10k so should replace them?.

also now thinking to change my music system in the ride only the pre, got sony xplod cdx-gt660u,installed for last 3 years ALLAH ka shukar hai no problem faced untill now still in 9/10 condition, but thinking to change the atmosphere of the ride. so guide me what pre will be better now in 10k range with usb in front and with nice display.

yr kind comments on this issue will be really helpfull.

take care all and kind regards.

    Adil Akhtar

Good to know that u got a reliable TPMS now,im sure the ones available here wud b chinese , which usually arent made to last for long... can u kindly illustrate how this thing actually works? wat components it has?

as for the tires, it depends on circumstances.if u are back at home just for a few months and wont b driving more then a few thousand kilometers AND if ur car wudnt be driven by anyone when u r gone back to ur duty , then i think u shdunt change the tires now.they do have some life left in them, although they r 4 yrs old. when u return home next time, change them immediately....

i know getting new tires just now wud sound as a better option but i dont think it wud be a good idea to use new tires for just a little time n they let them stand for 3-4 months...

but if ur car is used by ur family when u r at duty, then certainly u shud change them now...

for sound system, i think u shud post a new thread as this thread only gets visited by steermatic fans and owner, i do hope sum of them are sound system experts too...

    regards...

but we shud just not blame steermatic (or any other car) for that, not having ABS is not a fault(as brakes are in case of corolla), its just absence of a feature. though we all agree ABS is the only thing steermatic lacks, but still, ppl do crash cars equipped with ABS and EBD and ESP and wat else...so, its better to drive safely and leave the rest on ALLAH.

    Assalam Alekum fellows,

since i came back i noticed some thing different in my ride as the ride pick was getting sluggish, and going through some self problem.

so going to disscuss both problems here with sequence

    1) ride pick became sluggish and felt the jerk specially when shifting from neutral to reverse, my ride has done 30k till now and it got completely maintained by honda it self which by the way can only give u some piece of mind. on 30k check i told them that ride is getting jerk after running for abt 40km or so, so they asked me to come early in the morning so that they can check so i took it there and they check and told me its ok nothing wrong with the ride blah blah. so i took it home again it did the same thing next day so i decided to check internet for the such kind of trouble.
there on one site i really found interesting thing abt the changing of auto transmission oil for such kind of problem. so i decided to give it a try. yesterday i took the car in the afternoon to honda and asked them to change the auto transmission oil, so they checked my meter and told me that sir its only 30k and honda recommend to change it on 40k, so i told them do hell with what honda recommend and u change it now as i am paying u the money so after the little chit chat and blah blah they agree to change it with Honda CVTF, costed me around 3310 ruppes for 4 litres of it including tax and labour charges and the best part of it all of the trouble with the jerks just vanished after the change. my ride has again started to perform just like brand new and i am again enjoying the acceleration .
so fellows dont wait for 40k to change the transmission oil get it changed before or when the meter shows 30k. also read the same thing on the internet.

    now problem # 2.

car some times started to miss the self completely when the gear lever is on parking mode also taking long self to start the car which seems to strange to me as also replaced the battery with 48amp of maintenance free battery. no sound of the self nothing can be heard when i turn the key to start the car.

few days back i got new tracker installed in the car along with the new immobilizer so i thought that some thing might have gone wrong with this stuff, so i called the tracker company told them regarding this problem so they immediately send me the mobile unit to have a look in the car, they came and checked every thing and told me its all ok by their side. so again called honda regarding this problem and again i was told to come in the morning. btw after 15 tries on the self car started so i went to honda again and the car started very normally next day they checked the car hooked it upto the computer and no error found. fortunately for me i got a very reliable technician who also by the way works for honda ( not going to disclose his name and position of his work here) he came to see me and i told him abt this problem he started the car few time and told me that one of the sensor putting the picture here is not working properly specially when we start the car at parking mode so i asked him why not this error shows on the computer, his answer was not all errors are detected by the computer .

so i asked him regarding this sensor what should be done he said replaced it and he will give me the part number so that i can asked the honda to get me this part, got the sensor number and asked honda to get me this part , received the part yesterday cost me 2700 rupees for this sensor, honda was asking 1200 rupees to fit this part. my friend told me its upto u as he can do it at my place including programing it with the ECU. so yesterday evening he came by with is tolls and stuff took out the old sensor placed the new one programed it and fit it . programing was real easy job. took the ride for the test drive checked every thing and result was superb. car starting on half self with no problems.all process took less than 30 minutes. i give him 500 rupees which he took with smile. and told me with any city civic problem of any sort except mechanical he will be glad to take care of it with perfect job and way less than what honda is going to charge u.

so friends this is what i was doing yesterday.

@ Adil bhai, thanks a million for the valuable info. I have a similar problem with the transmission. The car sometimes hesitates and feels sluggish. Back in November, when I took the car to Honda Drive-In for transmission oil chage, they told me that the CVT oil is changed at 40,000 km and that the vehicle has done only 30,000 km. And told that they will change this at 40K km.

I've heard that auto transmissions also have oil filters which needs to be changed as well. Was yours repalced in the service?

Now after hearing your story, I'll get this done immediately.

    Thanks again.....
