    Default Help Needed ...

    Brothers,

I am planning on buying a Steermatic and am getting a good deal 2007 one. My friends and accomplices are trying to keep me from it. They are advising me to buy a 2005 Civic instead, citing the following reasons:

Zero CNG compatibility: Yet to find a person on Pakwheels that is happily driving his Steermatic on CNG. Although, I plan to keep the car on petrol for now, but still it would be better to have an option in the future. What is the mileage per liter of this car and is it really true that CNG can't be installed here?

Low resale: I found someone selling his 2007 red one for 850k in today's Dawn.

Complex engine and machinery that the local mechanics don't get: It'll result in greater maintenance cost since Honda people usually charge a lot. Are there any good mechanics of Steermatic present in Karachi?

Size: Of course, Civic is a bigger car.

Market acceptability: Again, Civic wins here I think.

I want to buy a Steermatic but all this has got me double minded. I tried searching on PakWheels for answers of the above mentioned but could only find opinions, not facts. Being the fan club, I know this might not be the best of places to post these queries but I'd appreciate if someone could help me silence the critics.

Waiting for a response from the lovers.

As you post your query here ""Steermatic fan club"" I am assuming that you know what steermatic is

I used to qoute my friends "" To buy Steermatic You need not only ""brain"" but also ""Balls""

Man If the steermatic you are looking is trouble free than believe me you will never regret.

@accord7362: Thanks a lot for the reply. Please, can you answer my questions regarding its fuel mileage and whether or not a good mechanic for it is available in Karachi?

@Ali regarding fuel it all depends on your driving style you can get around 11-15km/L & if you sail it around 1500 to 2000rpm it will give you even better average I did it once and got around 20km/L

for good machanic in karachi @archon(Adil Bahi) is the best man to contact his ph numer is on previous page he did his throttle body serviced today.

I dont know why people compare this car with other cars.

I will give you just one example which raise her (steermatic) above all other locally manufacture cars and that is its ""Dual Transmission"" you will enjoy ""auto&manual"" mode of driving in the same car

The beauty list is long you will find each and every thing regarding steermatic if you scroll through this forum

I installed CNG my steermatic, drove without trouble approx 15km purely on CNG. although never faced a mechanical problem, the real problem was the quality of CNG from CNG stations, long queues, damn! wtf, i want fuel, so get in line, crap. so i got rid of it. Hence it will work, you need an educated mechanic to install CNG on you steermatic. Steermatic's real joy is petrol or hi octane

Low resale: I found someone selling his 2007 red one for 850k in today's Dawn.
850 k is good deal but depends if its trouble free, accident free. Here on this very forum, we have seen deals for steermatic above 1,000,000/-
But the question is, if you want a car for your comfort or joy or for resale worry even before you have bought it!.

Complex engine and machinery that the local mechanics don't get: It'll result in greater maintenance cost since Honda people usually charge a lot. Are there any good mechanics of Steermatic present in Karachi?
my personal opinion is to always take your car to appropriate workshop, because the mechanics are trained. Local workshops, my experience is
these a$$h0l3s know nothing & are literally thug. I never trust these guys.

Regarding maintenance, my steermatic is now 88 k driven & never had any trouble, the only thing i remember is regarding spark plug coil, when one stupid washed my engine with high pressure water & it got faulty. Otherwise no issues.

Size: Of course, Civic is a bigger car.
    in what terms ?

Market acceptability: Again, Civic wins here I think.
Yep, keeping in view the 90% "Rolla" nature we people have, cheap things win

    Steermatic is for joy
Rest you have huge options related to CNG, resale , maintainenance blah blah blah...

& Accord7362 rightly mentioned. Why compare? its a car apart!

good luck & do share what you end up buying

    Yes its a d15y3,
    What about I-DSI?
Is it having the same L series engine?

^^ I dont own a steermatic but according to my knowledge steermatics and I-DSI,s are well known for their fuel economy and their superb mileage.
That is one of the reason you will mostly find these cars running on petrol.
    A rough guess,
It must be doing 12~15 km/litre

I own steermatic and it gives an awesome mileage. I don't have CNG installed in it. Inside city, it gives me between 12-13 Km/ litre (with AC) and on long route it's between 15-17 depending transmission mode you used.

Bro drive it in automode and within in city keep the rpms upto 1500 that means drive @ 60 kph and on long routes max speed 100kph if you want to derive max economy. No abrupt acceleration or breaking! Kinda diff to do initially but once you get the habit the results are worth the effort.

    Default Throttle body serviced

AOA fellows, yesterday my technician from honda didn't came due to some domestic matters but he came today to do the job. he came around 7pm and at the same time rain started here but it was not so heavy rain so i manage to take some snaps of the job he did.

@retrograde, tks bro noted what u said abt the throttle body rpms it was million $ info .

so fellows first he removed the battery , the air filter box , than connections various of them pipes etc , 1 thing was 100% sure that he knew what he is doing .

1 things which i noted is that we cannot do this by ourself as short of technical knowledge and its kind of typical job so better leave it to experts.

    1. equipments used were certain ratchet spanners and 1 small can of WD40.

    so here enjoy the pictures:

they are not so clear and my car engine bay is not so dirty too its flash of camera and darkness which make it look like dirty .

dismantling of throttle body in progress:

    Steermatic Fan Club -111859

    Steermatic Fan Club -111860

    Steermatic Fan Club -111861

    throttle body removed

    Steermatic Fan Club -111872

    Steermatic Fan Club -111873

    Steermatic Fan Club -111874

cleaning with WD40 in progress , u can see carbon deposit flushed with WD40.
believe me lots of carbon was there, 1 of my friend was also there to see whats going on, i was shocked to see this much carbon it was almost chocking throttle body. i asked the technician why so much carbon even i use hobc with regular petrol. he says normally people think using hobc will keep throttle body clean but it will not. our quality of petrol make it dirty.

so now putting every thing back.

    Steermatic Fan Club -111876

    Steermatic Fan Club -111877

    Steermatic Fan Club -111878

    Steermatic Fan Club -111881

started the car after all was installed back rechecked all pipes/connections. checked RPM after it settled down starting A/C , deck and checked every thing many time all working fine, no drop in rpm and job done in 30 minutes all together with complete satisfaction .

paid him 500 rupees only which he took with smile.

7 forward gears! Beat that! Gears are shifted by using +/- buttons on the steering wheel!
