as for the catalystic converter, i got my cars' opened cuz it was broken inside due to a bad hit.my car had done 20,000kms on petrol and converted to cng after that, but i do drive on petrol very often so lets say it was 30,000kms driven on petrol, but i cudnt see even small amount of choking stuff in it.it was completely open and wud be as gud as new.so dont worry about it.

Also let me explain that there are two types of CATs usually used in cars.one is ceramic based, like in city and other low priced cars and other is platinum based which is used where pollution rules are strict, even imported vitz has platinum ones i think.the latter one is more effected leaded fuel, which we get in pakistan. so we dont need to worry about choking CATs...
always love to see a youngster with so much knowledge GR8 @Ahmad

    Hi experts,

are u looking for idsi or steermatic?? in ur other post i replied with idsi in mind.sorry for that. well, for steermatics.gud ones were bought/sold by a few members for around 1050k around 1yr back.so now, u can expect them to be close to 1100k too, cuz ppl have finally realized their worth and very few are for sale in the market.

@accord, I will post pics once the ride gets serviced and all cleaned up. Odo is a little South of the 38K km mark. But I must say that yours could possibly be the least driven steermatic in the country (at around 25K km).

Thanx mr. AhmadBilla for prompt response to my query. Well I'm mechanical engineer by profession and recently in a bid to change my ride from cultus 2003 to city 2007-8. Actually I was reading ur posts on PW on many topics related to price comparison / other technical issues. I'm pleasured to know that this fan club has such a wonderful person like u. So hopeful to have ur nice cooperation in my ride decision making.

I have presently 1 million to 1.1 million (max) budget in my hand right now. I'm in a fix right now to which one should I go? Whether City Steermatic or IDSI manual 2007-8 or CIVIC EXi 2005-6 with sound conditions and low mileage. Certainly I studied a lot on PW and concluded that CIVIC EXi is a little bit expensive to operate because I have avg. 100 Kms per day drive between rawalpindi / islamabd. If I opt for this option (civic exi), then probably my monthly expenditure Bill would be increased as compared to city due to its fuel / cng efficiency. I personally like civic but u know the maintenace cost is also a big factor. That's the reason that I'm searching city. Many people on PW seems to say that city is a rikshaw or slow mover. I need ur comments in this regard also mention the CNG mileage of both cars please. Plz help me in selecting my car in this budget.

    Best Regards!

You can get a decent City 07/08 in your budget. It is a very economical car on fuel. If you want to run it on CNG then go for a manual model otherwise go for Auto. Even on petrol the mileage is good. It is very easy to maintain and comfortable car. Exi manual on CNG will give you same mileage and it is more spacious and has a bigger engine. Maintenance cost of both is almost the same. I have kept both so am speaking from experience.

Best of luck for what ever you decide.

@Mechengineer504, Sir since your daily driving is nearly 100km, idsi would be better keeping in view the prices of petrol. If you plan to run your vehice CNG then i will suggest your opt for manual otherwise vario goes smoothly on petrol and gives avg over 13km/L...
In either case I wish you luck.............
