    Default new city fuel consumption

i have recently bought new city vario. but the strange thing is its fuel cosumption. it is performing 10 km/l with ac in the city and 15 km/l on highways. on indian magazine overdrive the fuel consumption for new city 1500cc is written as 27 km/l. on an malaysian magazine it is written as 24 km/l during tests. in pakistan it is only 1300 cc then why the fuel consumption is high. can somebody tell me.

i believe the fuel consumptions mentioned in the magazines are in ideal optimum conditions and must be a compined mileage i.e. urban + rural devide by 2.

    Salam,
Well you are the first person I have seen complaining about the average of the new city.In the showrooms, people are taking the CITY instead of the COROLLA for rent because of it's extraordinary fuel consumption. You must take your car for a complete checkup as it might be a mechanical mistake.Sometimes they leave something in the air intake while assembling the car. Occured once in a BALENO a relative of mine bought, something was stuck in the air intake and due to it the car wasn't getting any pick. Take your car to a qualified mechanic. There must be a fault in the engine. The average you are telling is impossible with the iDSI engine the city has got.

As posted by N4SIR, your fuel consumtion depends on alot of things
    e.g.

if you life in islamabad you will get much better consumtion than if you live in Pinidi. why,

because you got less traffic , less traffic jams, less 1st and 2nd gear driving, less braking, more cleaner air etc.

also you will notice a clear change in consumption if you drive on highways and you will see that you are gettign alot more km's/ liter.

Also your driving style matters alot too. If you drive hard i.e on high revs, and brake hard , your fuel consumption will be high.

Also rememeber in most of the cars the peak power of the car is normally at lower levels that the red line on RPM meter. e.g. the Red line might start at 7000 or 8000 etc depending on the car but your peak power might be at around 5500 rpm so if you are pusing your car to 7000 rpm to change gear you are actually burning more fuel and oil
