    Default City in Trouble

    Salaams

a friend's 2006 Honday City with mileage of 40000km has this problem we're unable to solve since the past couple of months: oil consumption.

the car is maintained by Honda Classic I-9 every 3000km. the very first time, oil simply vanished into thin air because we never saw it dripping on the floor. put in a new box at night but again it was empty the next morning in the garage. found out the oil filter had not been fit properly. since then, it's common practice for the car to deliver less oil than put into it.

honda recently changed the oil ffilter as according to the service manager Taimoor many City owners complained of the same but i still see no change.

    anyone?

in short u r saying the car is consuming oil without any detected leaks? try changing the oil brand and see if it makes any difference, such low mileage car cant have a weak engine

yes, no leaks, no smoke. m not sure about the brand. it's done by Honda and they always have thier own name printed on the box which otherwise looks like that of Caltex. perhaps you can tell better which they use.

AND, how can i change it if the car is maintained by Honda? take my own box?

i started using it for my own car thinking of the others to be inferior but the shell website repeatedly suggested me to use the red one. m more than happy saving money now.

as for Mohsin, i'll surely get Shell into his car this week on his return. it'll be 40000km time by then.

o! honda says lots has to be replaced then - bill comes to around 13-20,000. anyone?

probably u ppl drove it off w/o oil for some time and it's done some damage to internals.

btw, could u tell us the SAE ratings of the oil u r putting in, and if this was the case from day 1, then why didnt u claim warranty since then.
