    Default Stiff Suspension Honda City

    Hello All,

I own a HONDA city 2007 I am feeling its suspension is too hard! even a small stone on the road or a little bump or a cat eye make this car jump. I also have a cultus 2008 and I am feeling its suspension is a lot better then city.

I also change many tires on city. dunlop, yokohama etc current tire size is 175/70/R13 .

i have taken this to honda 3s delaer and according to him suspension is oki.

but i am not satisfied because its not comfortable.

I want to ask city owners, is it normal for all honda city cars or there is something wrong with this partucularly.

Car is driven about 35K .

one thing more i need to ask. about after 40K milage car needed to be chck with honda delaer for changing all its lubrications break pads etc. and estimae is about 15 to 20 K , is it worth to check it with honda delaer or what are the recomendations from the experts.

    Regards

the car tyre touching with the body may be due to the tyre being of a greater profile. my 205/55 R15 tyres do not touch the body with 5 people in the car along with the trunk filled to the brim with luggage (from the monthly shopping) with 1 subwoofer even when i go over bumps. but my previous 195/65 R15 dunlops used to always touch the body when i went over bumps with just 5 people in the car without any luggage. also you say that your suspension has started making noises. it could be that there's something wrong with the suspension which is why you're getting a bumpy ride and not the tyres. i'm not trying to stop you from downsizing in any way but just giving you something to think about: if its a problem with the suspension it'll still be there after you change the rims and if you find out about it at that time then you may possibly regret selling you're rims off. just my two cents :-)

yes bhai its true that city has very stiff susupension so the ride isn't comfortable at all. i experienced this when i drove my cousin's 08 model. its worth of sayin that even vitz has better shock absorbers and thats the reason why vitz and other jdm cars gets too low when loaded upto full capacity. what u can do is to replace ur coils with those comin with those cars. suspension naeam ho jaye gi, at least give it a try,u'll love

the profile of my tyres at the moment is 185/65 R15 and b4 this i have also tried out 195/60 R15...after gettin 185 tyres touchin the body is quite less now..and only happens in big/deep bumps...
so will think abt the profile 55....but wont it damage my rims as the road to my village is quite dug up and bumpy?
will go to honda dealership and will ask them to chk out my suspension as the tyre is only touchin the body from the right rear one...not from the other rear tyre...so sumthin mite b wrong frm that side...
    will get it chked

i have a steermatic and must say that the suspension is stiff in deed, especially since I mine has stock 185/55/R15 tyres. Road grip is good but ride is bumpy, sometimes i think it does not have any suspension at all

aahhh...stiff suspension....i just love it.bro i had the very same feelings when i got my city.i had a khyber before it nd its suspension was very soft.theres no problem wud ur car.its ok.
i used to dislike the suspension 1st,ppl here on pw told me that its ok nd its good this that but i wanted softer one.but soon i realized wat r the advantages.1st is that gives ur car a real edge in cornering.body roll is less so its easier to control.i hav 195/60/r15 tyres nd even on 100km/h,i can change lane on motorwat wid a hard jerk(thought one shuldnt try it)
the 2nd thing is that stiff suspension,to me atleast, feels more comfortable long drives.i hav travelled in cultus, khybers corollas etc,nd they keep on moving up nd down on the road if there r slight bumpes on the road, but city gives a very different feel,it feels solid nd is more comfortable.though it beacomes a bit uncomfortable on very trashed roads at low speeds...at high speeds, driving on cracked or little ditches ,i hear the sound thathatahatghathathaehhahathhatha frm suspension but theres not much movement in the cabin...gives sum feel man...dnt worry,u will start to like it after sum time.

@ahmadbila: totally agree with you :-)
@ibrahim: 55 profile tyres will not damage your rims unless you hit a ditch at high speeds. so unless you drive like a maniac on bumpy roads everything is gonna be ok

its very nice to read the comments from fellow! atleast I am satisfied now this is not only my problem and satisfied to know that there is nothing wrong wid my ride ! its normal to having stiff suspenion.

when i had 195/65 R15 my read right tyre was also touchs to body then i replaced to 185/70 R 13 (currently I have this size of tires)

agreed with ahmedbila it makes sounds like thathatahatghathathaehhahathhatha even a cateye make sound dag duzzzzzzz some time it really feels it dont have suspension at all. every bump banged my head.

195/60/15 is the optimal size in 15". I had those specs on for almost 2 years, no issues of touching/rubbing against the body even if the car had full occupancy (NON-CNG car)

    @akbar
urs was better bcuz of no cng i guess.but 195 60 sure is bigger than what u shud put in a city.plus the rim is 15 inch.i hav 195/60 but rim is 14 so no problem of touching.as long as u keep the overall diameter of the tyres same as stock, they arent gonna touch the body...!!!

ibrahim ! no touch to body any more when I have 185/70/R13

It touches when it was 195/65/R15

even in 195/60/R15 and int 195/55/R15 it was not touching the body but was hell of bumpy.

u guys just stick to ur suzukis! i mean, soft suspension is not at all a good performer when it comes to cornering and high speeds! stiff suspension is safer and civics and citys have stiff suspension due to customer requirements!
