    Default Honda City Vario Cng problems sorted out

    Good news for all CNG users in honda city vario. Most of the ppl are worried about burning of CVT transmission while driving on CNG. I bought a city vario few months back and was horrified to learn that i could not run it on CNG as the auto transmission would burn out. Well i took it as a challenge because CNG is just an alternative fuel and shall not pose any problems to car,s mechanical performance. After trying for 3 months and meeting lots of self taught CNG mechanics, i came to fol conclusion:-
    No need to panic, its just ur mechanic troubling u
    The transmission will not fail if u change transmission fluid after 20000 kms usage on CNG. use caltex steermatic fluid. there ia a small filter inside CVT transmission of vario which can not be replaced with out opening the the complete transmission assembly. due to clogging of which, the transmission fluid would not circulate and the transmission fails. to avoid this, change the fluid before its get too dirty at the recommended petrol usage of 40000 km.
    USE CLIP 4 tomasetto lovato advance / emulator unit but ask mechanic not to attach TPS wire , it is for manual transmission. the advancing would be done by MAP sensor. Here is a complete guide .http://www.tomasettolovato.com.ar/english/download.html

    My vario is running fine since , no gear noise and good pick on CNG. i am getting 200 km on a 60 kg tank(amazing). any queries are welcomed (Y)

    It Is Factory Recommended To Do Transmission Fluid Get Change After Every 20,000 Km's.....If People Don't DO So......Its Their Fault...
    Even Manual Transmissions Need Oil Change After Every 30-35k KM's.....But Who Knows..They Just Make It Full If Get Lower On Level....Don't Just Replace It All Thinking They Might Loose Genuine Oil Running It Over Lacs Of KM's And Then Complain About Noises From Gears.....!!

    well thats quiet an achievement man...u did a great job.nd yeah ur right the transmission oil gets too dirty at 40k kms,i did changed it after 40k kms nd it was almost black.though mine is manual.

    Well.....Can Be....But I Suggest To do It Before Conditions Get Worst.....!!
    Factory Also Recommend To Do So Many Things...But Who Cares :-)

    It gets black or not at 40k but it surely becomes muddy, full of dirt, thick, you need to change it if you want smooth shifting of gears.

    @inspire, get your car's Gear oil changed, people dont even know that there is another oil working all the time in car's transmission !

    @topic starter, if there is so much stress on auto transmissions while on CNG, then i would say keep your car on petrol.

    No....Manual Transmission Have Its Own Oil Of Different Viscosity.... QuietThicker Than Engine Oil.....!! Normally Engine Uses Multi Grade 20w-50 Where as GearBox Oil Is Multi-Grade75W-90 Or 80W-90...

    Go to any Service station, get your car lifted, first buy 2 liters of Zic or Caltex 75w or 85w gear oil, if 2 liter oil dont fill your gear box, buy a 3rd one, but remember dont fill it to max, keep the level lower then max.

    Get Old One Bleed 1st Before Putting Inn New.....There Bleed Nut Located Below Gearbox....Get It Drain And Use As Company Or Factory Manual Says.....!! B/w How Much Mileage You Car Have Since Its Not Replaced....!!

    Hey friends, I got a City IDSI 2004, a month ago i got it checked 4m Enercon in G10 for CNG setting. they even changed my cars 8....... (dono wt dey call dem) but still after that my car doesn't work gud on CNG, previously it was running gud, now a days early in the morning on CNG its RMP goes below 1 n at times its race increases it self in day time, dono whether to contact the Honda workshop or go to Enercon again !

    Guys, Shahid is talking about "VARIO" automatic City. I agree with him all automatic cars on CNG should have transmission fluid changed @ 20K for safety.

    Remember using CNG burns at higher temprature, this increase burns the ATF.

    i experienced the same, i am using Vario 2003 since January 2010 all time on CNG, the vehicle cold start movement is difficult untill its green "C" light goes off .
    I have learned it by experience that
    1. start ur varion on petrol 2mn and take off on petrol if hurry, switc to cng on smooth drive
    2. wait till the temperature light "c" goes off on CNG and than move.
    3. change ATF after 20,000 kmn each time
    4. changs plugs after 15,000 km
    I am quite happy and keep away from the mechanics
    usually replace oil filters and brakes in time.
    CNG milage 180 km in 55l cylinder
    12-13 km per liter on petrol ( Although the petrol filled by stations is 30% less than actual)
    A 10 liter can filled by 14liter petrol?
    what the everage car can post?
