    Default Honda Civic VTI 2000 Auto Rpm Limit Problem..
















    ^^Civic 2000 VTI Automatic!
    It has a RPM LIMITER problem.. or u can say Cut Off!!
    the Limit is Set on 5000rpm.. which actually should be at 7000rpm...
    In neutral the Limit is 5000rpm..on Full thorttle even
    -

    is there something wrong wid my ecu??
    Suggestions are most welcome!!
    Kindly Help me out!!

    When you drive it, does it go over 5000 rpms or the same thing happens? You cannot over 5k when you DRIVE IT? If you can, then you're fine.. its the normal fuel cutoff / limiter that is acting on neutral as it SHOULD. If you are driving in lets say D, and you cannot get the car go above 5000 RPMs with full throttle you have some problem, check that out on some empty road, and get back here. Unless you have alot of money and can go into changing random things easily. Good Luck.

    i've already mentioned that the LIMITER ON D GEAR IS 5000 ON FULL Throttle EVEN!!


    NOW WHAT the Heck should i do???


    i also have a civic 97' auto VTI PETROL


    its Cutoff is at 7000 IN BOTH D and N gear..


    i've also seen other Civic 2000 Auto Petrol Vti's With limit at 7000...in BOTH Conditions!


    THERES SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY CAR! and i have no idea abt it!


    i dont think that 5000 Cutoff on N gear is Wrong... it should be that way...


    BUT Cutoff on D gear is 5000... THTS ****!! it should be 7000!!!


    IM ASKING FOR A SOLUTION???


    LIKE WHT TO DO NOW??


    i've checked my Throttle sensor its working FINE.. i coudnt find the rest of the sensors!

    this type of blessing will end up in a burnt ECU or a sensor ... cuz one little problem will be disturbing other equipment in serial manner .


    DONT WAIT FOR SOMETHING BIG TO HAPPEN ..

    Reset ECU : take off the -ve (negative) terminal of battery for 3-4 minutes then reconnect it, clean the terminal aswell.if any rust or corrosion.


    If the TPS is fine then its the O2 sensor for sure. From the info i had frm you i can tell you this for sure either its the o2 sensor or its the distributor fault. just replace the o2 sensor ...


    go to bilal gunj get the original o2 sensor for civic till 96-2000 model get a mechanic tell him to be carefull cuz he can break the sensor ... spray WD-40 on the sensor to losen it up frm rust .take it out put the new one and check it ... it will be all fine . if not then put it back again .. and here it goes ladies and gentelmen he,s got a busted ditrubutor.. Replace it with the original one (NO COMPATIBLE)


    NOTE: cycle the key when the rev hits 5000 rpm .if it crosses 5k let me know ... turn key off /on in a second and keep accelarating. it should touch 7000 .





    D.I.Y the ones you can ... others can be done by the mechanic ,, you just monitor he dose exactly as told

    I checked my VTi in D it cuts off @ 5,000 RPM but when I floor the pedal in D it shifts @ 6,000+ RPMS Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

    dear friend
    on nuetral it should go to 7k

    i do have same type of problem in my civic vti oriel 2005. the vtec solenoids are not working on petrol
    when i drive rpm stuck at 4000 rpm and the car jerks, i checked with honda and they diagnosed to change the vtec valve. as after 4000 rpm, the vtec initiates.

    i think honda civic vti 1997 has a vtec check your vtec valve. if solenoids are not ok then you will have to change the vtec valve.

    bro dont confuse the guy further ... its nice to share your problem .. but i dosnt mean you apply the same formula on evry problem ...


    vtec on 4000 rpm ...


    This car goes up to 5200 rpm .. plus in D2 its goes upto 6000 rpm.. so techanichally the car is capible of going till 6k so its distributor or the oxygen sensor ...

    For any old car 4 yr plus .. one should the engine mounts .. cuz if they are torn off or slightly displaced from the original position .. anf the engine is not is a level with the body/chassis. Then it will never give you results .. whatever you do from fuelpump to carborator/distributor/ plugs wires tuneup .. evrything ... filters change... but still jerks and off tune feel to the car ....


    So before jumping into conclusions go step by step .. check yr engine level /mounts/general look for any problem then start into tuneup diagnostics
