I hope and pray that they launch the damn thng soon so we can be spared this barrage of repetitive posts and rants about something that has not even materialised yet! Every two days, its the same pictures over and over and over.......Sigh..Perfomance anxiety eh? makes me feel for the Honda Boys.

i wants to make it clear to every one tht i m not at all a die heart fan of any carbrand.the case is this tht, i really like the interior as well as exterior of tht car so i keep on sending the pics, facts n figures and the polls conducted through out the world.write know i m just curious about its price if it is below 14 lakhs then its well n good other wise i will opt for altis vvti.
m just looking forth to civic's new model, for all those who r provoked its better not to add any robust statement on this forum bcoz such kind a people r so nuisance for every one out here who just wants to share there feelings in a gentle manner.

hope u all agitators understood it

speaking to a honda dealer last week, he suggested that the new civic when launched in pakistan would be about +16lakh as demand would immediately outstrip supply.

when i converted the us dollars in to rupees(i m writing about the fully loaded model ex its superior then dx and lx)it was around 113,0000.
i hope new civic is not over rated, its loaded model shud be 15 lakhs not more then tht other wise its sale wont be impressive.
for those who are looking forth to take a leap frm hatchback economical cars like santro, vitz n cultus to new civic as a luxuries car(for pak market) more then 15 lakhs are too much.

all of civic lovers, keep ur fingers crossed for its price

    @kkhan

wht was dealer tellin u, tht the prise is going to start frm 16k(coz we all know tht there r so many versions in just a single model for instance exi, vti, prosmatic n oriel just with minor changes)or its fully loaded model will cost 16k.
if he hasnt told u confirm it, coz its quite an authentic information for all the future buyers of this car

Expert ReviewThe revamped 2006 Honda Civic gets much needed new sex appeal to draw a larger number of young buyers, while retaining the appeal of its predecessor to continue drawing those of all ages who want a refined, reliable small car.

Honda has sold about 7 million Civics in America, where this car has been instrumental in building the automaker's reputation and high sales levels. Each new Civic has been better than its predecessor, although the 2001-05 versions were too bland for many younger drivers.

    Much Sportier
The new, eighth-generation front-wheel-drive Civic should satisfy the many people who want cars that are more exciting because this new Honda looks sportier, inside and out. It has a sleek new aerodynamic body with a sweeping roofline, rakish windshield angle and low, wide stance. Interiors are blessed with more style and function. Suspensions are revised, and the car is more powerful, quieter and even more refined.

However, the new Civic should do well if only because many folks are concerned about higher gasoline prices and "Civic" is nearly a synonym for "efficient compact car."

The Civic comes as a coupe and sedan. I tested the new Civic sedan, which will account for the majority of Civic sales. But wait—one can't flatly say it's a "Civic sedan" any more than a Mercedes buyer can say he or she bought a "Mercedes sedan" because there are so many Mercedes sedan models.

    Nothing Simple Here
Honda once said it liked to "keep things simple," but here's what it says about the new Civic: "No other vehicle in the segment covers as much ground as the Civic with its two body styles, three engines, four transmissions and five trim levels. All totaled, there are over 148 model, trim, option and color combinations for the 2006 Civic, more than ever before."

Potential Civic buyers thus should do their homework about the car before even approaching a Honda showroom.

With the Civic sedan, one might ask if it's an entry level DX, a mid-range LX or a top-line EX—or EX with a navigation system. And that's putting aside the type of transmission it has or if it is a regular gasoline model or a hybrid gas-electric Civic.

There also is a base Civic DX coupe, along with LX and EX trim levels and EX coupes with a navigation system and XM satellite radio.

    Hot Rod Coupe
There also is the more powerful, faster hot rod Civic Si coupe, which has various high performance equipment and such items as aero body cladding and a rear deck spoiler. The Si is aimed at the young "fast and furious" crowd, whom largely ignored the 2001-2005 Civic but liked earlier versions.

The Si has a 4-cylinder 197-horsepower engine, compared with a 4-cylinder 140-horsepower engine found in other Civics—except in the hybrid. The hybrid, which delivers a preliminary, estimated 50 mpg both in the city and on highways, is more powerful than the 2005 Civic hybrid and thus allows easier—and fairly good--merging into fast traffic. It has a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

    Honda Mistake
The Civic hybrid looks like the regular sedan, and that's a Honda mistake. Auto analysts say one reason the Civic hybrid has been far outsold by the Toyota Prius hybrid is because the Prius has distinctive styling that tells the world its owner has something genuinely different.

The Si coupe is the fastest new Civic and stands out visually. It also has the sharpest handling with its sport suspension and a close-ratio 6-speed (instead of a 5-speed) manual transmission available with other gas-engine Civics.

No matter how it's equipped, the new Civic coupe has a 2-inch-shorter wheelbase than the 106.3-inch-wheebase sedan and a tighter back seat. However both coupe and sedan have longer wheelbases than their predecessors.

    High-Volume Sedan
But let's just consider the high-volume Civic sedan. It starts with the $14,560 DX version, which has a 5-speed manual gearbox. I drove the top-line $20,560 EX sedan with a navigation system and responsive new 5-speed automatic transmission instead of the manual gearbox, which would lower the EX price to $19,760.

The new sedan is 1.3 inches longer at 176.7 inches and is slightly lower and wider. However, the new Civic sedan also is 152 to 179 pounds heavier than the 2005 sedan, although that's a relatively small gain considering the added standard safety equipment, new features and increased bending and torsional rigidity. (The coupe is slightly shorter, wider and lower than the 2005 model.)

    Safety Items
Standard safety items include an updated body structure for better collision safety, front-seat side airbags, side-curtain airbags and anti-lock brakes with electronic brake distribution for surer panic stops.

    The new 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine replaces a 1.7-liter 4-cylinder with 115 horsepower, although the 2005 standard Civic also was offered with a 127-horsepower 4-cylinder. The 2005 Si had a 2.0-liter 160-horsepower 4-cylinder.

Although not much to look at, the last-generation Civic was refined, comfortable and fuel-thrifty. Only the hybrid was generally slow.

    Fuel Miser
My test Civic was pretty much a fuel miser, delivering an estimated 30 mpg in the city and 40 on the highway with the automatic transmission—or 30 and 38 with the manual gearbox.

My test car was no sports sedan, but was extremely smooth, with quick electric power steering that had the right amount of assist, supple ride, good handling and linear brake pedal action that allowed sure stops even when they were sudden. The engine was smooth, but the 65-75 mph passing time on highways was average.

    Unusual Instrument Panel
The first thing a driver will notice after slipping behind the wheel is the new two-tier instrument panel. It places the speedometer, gas and engine coolant temperature gauges in an arc atop the dashboard where drivers hardly need to divert their vision from the road to see the readings. The tachometer and other gauges and warning lights are put lower here than they normally would be.

Some drivers may be annoyed that the speedometer only comes in digital form, but the quiet interior has supportive seats, large climate controls and high-mounted audio controls. All controls work smoothly and precisely. Even the turn signal lever feels good to use.

    Lots of Room
Four tall occupants easily fit. Large, nicely shaped outside door handles help make it easy to slide in, but interior handles are more stylized than practical. All doors have storage pockets, and there are lots of storage cubbyholes.

The front console area has a deep, covered cargo bin. Deep front console cupholders have a sliding cover that serves as an armrest and makes for a neat console look when the cupholders aren't being used. The substantial rear center armrest has dual cupholders.

The trunk is roomy for the car's size and has a low, wide opening. The lid's hinges take up some space, but rear seatbacks fold flat to significantly enlarge the cargo area.

The compact Civic is about the size of the old Honda Accord, which also has grown and is classified as a midsize car. It's also better in many respects than those Accords, thanks to Honda's relentless attempts to build better cars.
