    Default Hand Brake issues with Civic 4 disc brakes

    Hi all,

    Is it true that the hand brakes of the 4 wheel disc brakes suck big time ? I am even shy to call them brakes. Please share your experience. In case it can get better then pls do suggest the ways to accomplish that.

    Thanks in advance.

    @panic,

    They do look like this. They were polished shiny and even. I know what are you trying to tell. I have done this polishing and tooling of the discs numerous times on my santro, i agree this make a difference especailyl when your disks are deshaped. Anyhow, I shall consult some other mechanic and see what he has to say. I may visit local Honda showroom for a quick inspection.
    Thanks buddy.

    Are you sure Hammad? I can't recall, but these jap boxes do have a separate set of small drums at the rear for the handbrake.. not maybe the case with a honda civic.. but still, you can ask the mechanic at the honda shop.

    Four wheel disc yeah, at the rear, behind the hub assembly, there is a set of small drums for the handbrake. That is to ensure that the handbrake works if your braking systems FAILS. I don't know if it is like that in Honda civic.. do check though.

    I have a 2003 Vti Automatic and its handbrake is just fine. It is however, a little stiff compared to Corolla, but it functions perfectly. Its Automatic, so you may question how I know if functions - well, once in a while I get the car on a slope, shift the gear to N and pull up the handbrake, click by click to see if it is functioning properly..

    However, even though I am a unshakeable Honda fan, and am Anti, anti, anti Toyota, Toyota (2006 Altis A/T) has a better handbrake than Civic...

    i have some problem with my civic 99 VTI Oriel, it gets over heated and water gets dry, i replaced the rediator with single nali to double nali but the problem remains same, then i go for head facing and changed the gasket, but the problem is stil there, the needle goes high and water gets dry mostly in continuous long run of 15 to 20 KM, can anybody suggest me what to do??....i am much worried regarding this issue. rediator is original, and there is no any visible water leakage from pipes or rediator.
