Default Lowering Civic 97 - Some questions

    Hi guys,

I'm thinking of lowering my Civic by a couple of inches. A friend told me the easiest way to do it is to get the springs cut. I just wanted to confirm whether that is a good idea or not. Should i just buy some lowering springs instead? Any idea how much they cost?

I'm also thinking of replacing the both the front and rear shocks on it. Should i go for kabuli shocks or buy original one's? I've been quoted a price of 6k for kabuli one's & 12k for brand new one's (both front and rear).

What he said. Let your shockers be, just make sure they have their bump stoppers on them when you put em back on.

    naumankhattak,
Do you know someone in shoba or any shop in particular that might have them? Will save me some time if i know where to get them.

Any advice on the shocks? Original or kabuli one's?

Well i went through all of shoba today didn't manage to find any lowering springs. I was told that i might be able to find it in chowk fawara in saddar, so going to look there next.
I did manage to find a cold air intake, the guy was asking 3500 for it. Is it a good price and should i bother putting it in my VTi? Also what do you do when the filter on the intake needs replacing?

It's for the complete set of shocks. I traded in my old shocks and paid 5.5k on top for a kabuli set of shocks with sports springs.

Guys i have some questions again. I've been using the car now and i think it's a bit too low so i want to raise the height a bit again. Should i put spacers to raise it an inch or two? Or should i return the lowering springs and cut the original one ring from the original springs to drop it a bit?

Does anyone have any experience with cutting springs? How much will the car drop in height if i cut off one ring? Right now it's quite low, i tried fitting 17" rims with 45 profile and the body was touching the top of the tire. Thanks for the help.

Why you putting 17 inch rims? Just put 16 inches. Problem solved. If you still want 17 inches , the nget even lower profile andstiffen up ur suspension a little bit more.

I guess i could go with smaller size alloys. Right now i'm using 195/50/14 tires and the tires still hit the body sometimes on bumps and driving over speedbumps is a pain. So do you guys think it is safe and advisable to use 1 inch spacers above the shocks?

To give you an idea how low it is currently:

The problem is that you have to be carefull when driving with lowered shocks.

And also you should have got more stiffer springs and shocks to avoid touching the body with your tires. With front wheel cars you have to make them oversteer a little bit more so they handle better. But if you get too stiff suspension you'll get too much oversteer which will be bad.

If on your current setup the tire touches the body while changing lanes at like 140 km/h etc , then surely you need to stiffen it up a bit, just a bit , not too much and not too little.
And if you feel like you have started loosing grip then i think it means that you need to upgrade the tires and get wider or sfter ones to improve grip.

And you also mentioned that tire was touching while on bumpy roads etc. At those areas you just have to be slower than normal , or otherwise you will screw up your suspension very quickly. These type of suspensions are for performance not for bumpy roads.

y are u using 195/50/14 ?? go for 195/65/14. 50 profile is way low.thats y u hitting bumps. coz i think the way ur car is , its quite perfect. go for slight camber when aligning.
