    Default Any Difference In Engines of CIVIC 2002-2006

    Dear Pakwheelers,

    Assalamoalaikum,

    I hope and pray all of you would be fine, Insha'Allah !

    I want to ask was there any difference in engines, of the whole previous generation Civic.

    Was the EXI 2002's engine carried all along until 2006 or it was changed ?

    Was the VTi 2002's engine carried all along until 2006 or it was changed ?

    Shall ONLY appreciate replies of those who have knowledge about it, or atleast who want to discuss the issue.

    I shall be looking forward to hear from you soon, Insha'Allah

    Regards.........

    w/salam bro

    hmm well. in 2002 vti, the technology used is VTec(Variable valve Timing and lift Electronic Control)

    but now in 2006 model which is commonly known as Civic reborn, the technology is changed to Intelegent VTec i-e in short form i-VTec. and the engine displacement is also increased from 1.6 to 1.8.

    As for the technology I think 2001-2005,6 are similar engines.

    The only thing I heard was that after the change of shape in 2001,the late 2001 and early 2002 cars were japan assembled and later they started assembling them in Pakistan. Though its just a gossip, I'd like to know if there's any truth in it or not.

    @civic_90
    Thanks for your reply, but I said I'll appreciate relies from only those who knows about it, I've talked about a particular generation from 2002 to 2006, also mentioned the previous generation. Never mind !

    @iLLDuDe786
    Thanks for your reply, but I requested to have replies who have some knowledge on this. I myself have mentioned seperately about EXi and VTi, which means it has nothing to do about the displacement issue and technology in between them. And, gearboxes have not been discussed. Thank you anyway, brother !

    @bango
    You have absolutely wrong information, and certainly this thread is not about rumors. but thanks for participating though.

    Please answer only when you have it !

    The 2001-2006 Civic used a 2 solenoid VTEC-E design D16W9 and from personal experience, it's the same across the years.

    The 1996-00 Civic used the D16Y6 engine. It is similar to the D16Y8 but with an economy head so your aftermarket cam shaft won't fit.

    The newer 2006+ Civic uses the R18 i-VTEC which has continuously variable camshaft phasing.
    My engine history; CB70 -> 4EFTE -> D15B VTEC -> D16Y6 VTEC -> 1JZ-GTE
