Default Problems in Honda Civic 1.8

This thread is only about problems in Civic 1.8. No irrelevant replies are allowed here. And only owners are allowed to reply here. Just like problems in 09 corolla and 09 city is running this is only related to civic 1.8 (from its introduction in Pakistan).
It is impossible to please everybody.

If the upsizing is within recommended parameters then no change in speedometer( for 17 inch , 225/45 or 205/50 is recommended for civic ) and ABS work absolutely fine ,, infact if anything braking improves if you go for 225 tyre

It makes a lot of difference. hard steering and lowered fuel consumption. Car gets heavier.

205, 50 on 17 will not introduce error in speedometer but 225, 45 will add error of more than 5 KM / hr. Regarding drive smoothness, yes the drive will become harsh on our roads. Low profile tires on our roads will make drive harsh. I got myself 205 tires and the same rim size and it has reasonable grip and drive quality has also increased, dont exact remember the profile size but i checked at that time and there was just around 1KM error in speedometer i guess.

225/45r17 is recommended size for 9th gen civic, no speed error here ... I can verify, and drive doesn't become harsh at all, people get scared just by reading 45 profile but what they don't realize is that 225 takes care of that aspect ...

The most common issue is the leakage of power stearing seals.

Thats right... No speedometer error on 225/45 R17. Here is a good link to calculate tire size and speedometer difference

Shown it to Honda Gateway Lahore, They have dis-mental the shock absorber , grease it and replace it. Noise haven't gone.

I have read the post on same problem in 08 model, that its from dashboard due to absence or looseness of bolts of dashboard, but came to know from Service Manager that new model is not having any bolts in it and is assembled with clips.

Does anyone got this problem fixed , guide please.
Had same rattling noise from Civic dash, try inserting small piece of used cards (atm, visiting etc) between two plastics joining each other. In your case between piller and dash.

    Good Day Borther,
I had claimed the issue under warranty at 3S dealership. They were not able to fix it even after opening up the Fender, and whole dashboard. Then they called Technician from plant. who was not even able to fix it.

I had pushed them to limits. Finally they drove my car back to plant. What was found was a broken weld spot in chassis where it cabin!!!!. Kept car for five days.

That is a long story of emails and phone calls and i told them that if this problem arise again, they have to replace the car , else I will go to consumer court. That was enough of message.

Car turned out fine later. Putting cards will not do, just put your foot down on tail of dealership. I can share emails to support your case. You can go to report and escalate it to nth level. Tahts the language they understand.

You can contact me at aslam_nouman@yahoo.com for any further support needed.

    Regards

    Nouman
    I'd rather be in Concordia!

Have you dropped the key or is the key broken? Looks like your immobilizer chip has malfunctioned. Try another spare key which has plastic honda logo instead of remote key. It should start. Otherwise you will have to get new key and will have to get it reprogrammed. Will cost you around 6-8k.

i took it to Honda dealership and they found that the noise was due to low Power steering fluid. But the major problem they found is the faulty Power steering pressure feed pipe and with that the steering rack will have to be replaced.
