    by keeping all the neagative things in mind i calculated a rough average and that comes out to be 12km/ltr in which i ahve taken 365 kms coz in 358 km the car was standing still for abt 20 mins with AC on at all times, plus i had floored the car alot after any truck or bus had came in front of me and at times i pushed the metal to the floor bcoz of other cars behind me :p and yes the super supreme which i had was totally crap my car was knocking alot till got hi octane mixed with it. now what do u guyz say abt the average?

    bro hi octane is a more powerfull fuell than the normal super supreme we have here. i do not think by added hi octane to the fuell it will affect the 8th gen negatively.

    The octane rating is a measure of the resistance of gasoline and other fuels to detonation (engine knocking) in spark-ignition internal combustion engines. The higher the octane rating, the slower the fuel burns. High-performance engines typically have higher compression ratios (and hence longer piston strokes) which requires higher octane (slow burning) fuel to allow the piston power stroke to complete before the fuel is completely burned. If the fuel burns faster than the downward movement of the piston allows, then the pre-detonating fuel results in a loud "knocking" sound and vibration. A lower-performance engine will not generally perform better with high-octane fuel, since the lower compression ratio is fixed by the engine design.

    @309
    Yesterday at Caltex i asked the guy the octane rating of supersupreme we have here and he said its 88 ..
    Therefore, Why do we need to add high Octane
    I get ur point that it becomes responsive
    But i am trying to find the logic behind this,
    Since, Honda has advised Octane rating : 88
    Again Wikipedia Says :
    Many high-performance engines are designed to operate with a high maximum compression, and thus demand high-octane premium gasoline. A common misconception is that power output or fuel mileage can be improved by burning higher octane fuel than a particular engine was designed for. The power output of an engine depends in part on the energy density of its fuel, but similar fuels with different octane ratings have similar density. Since switching to a higher octane fuel does not add any more hydrocarbon content or oxygen, the engine cannot produce more power.

    bro what u said is no doubt correct but whenever i get 10 ltrs of hi octane in my 04 civic the engine feels quite energetic, may be coz the super supreme we have here is not of gud quality thus adding hi octane helps the engine. well i do not know much abt these technicalities but just saying what we feel in our cars after getting hi octane.

    @owais,
    no problem bro and no thanks wanks man and i think if this 5 yr old 1.6 civic is giving abt 12km/ltr then it shudn't be difficult for non-civic owners to beleive that the new civic can give arnd 14.5 km/ltr.

    @owais,
    hey bro i got my 04 civic filled up again and only 28 ltrs of fuel went into the tank. first i got 5 ltrs of hi octane then rest 23 were super supreme. at the time of refuelling the odometer had 360 kms which has u already know had abt 40 kms of city driving and 20 mins of car switchd on with AC but not moving so no adding in miles. and very quick pickups at most the times when trucks or buses used to get out of my way. so the exact average came out to be 12.857 km/ltr. so what do u guyz say abt it, is it okay or a bit less for the 1.6l civic?

    Bro i think that is pretty Efficient average Because The economy depends on various factors as you know and fer u most of the factors were contributing negatively : Load on car, Pedal to the metal, Idling with AC,
    40km of City driving
    So considering all that This 1.6 Civic haz proven to b economical
    12.9..Its almost doing 13 km/litre !!! Nice !!!
