    Default Civic reborn petrol average

guys i am bit confused about the petrol average of civic reborn , i got 2008 pros i-vtec. .

why am i getting fuel average 6 - 7 kms per ltr.

is this what reborn generally gives or there is something wrong with my car, my car mileage is 13k kms. standard 15' tires. .

& yes majority times i keep soft throttle.

share your experience / mileage / suggestion

yar donno much about reborn but have driven VTI pros 2005. It was giving 13-14km/l. Have baleno too, which gives 15-16km/l (both w/o AC). yours seems quite low since honda engines are known for their good fuel consumption but again, that 1.8L factor should be kept in mind.

Dude you are driving in Karachi where traffic is much much dense on roads nothing to worry just drive safe. Your car is perfect on long routes check your average you will find the difference.

Sir it is perfectly normal mileage

for 1800cc engine in city with ac and automatic transmission .....nothin is wrong with ur car i have altis it gives me 9km/litre in city with out a/c in medium to heavy traffic.... on high way it gave me 14 km/litre without ac speed 120 km/hr..its 1200 km driven car( 2009 model)..

almost same averages are seen by civics it all depands where u drive when i drive with in my society repeated short trips less than 4 km average drops to 7km/litre...short trips increase fuel consumption...

    1. There are many threads on this topic.use the search option n ull get the avgs. 2. I had an 08 oriel manual.my avg local was 10-11 kmpl n on highways it was around 14kmpl YES 14 kmpl! my boss has a 08 oriel pmatec.his avg is around wot u quoted. 1 thing i noted with both. At speeds around 100KM the rpm of the manual is 2500 And that of prosmatec is 3000. But at speeds of 130-140 the rpm of prosmatec was 2500 and that of manual was 3200 plus. I think it has to do with different gear ratios of both. Somebody may give their input.

^ so net conclusion ive drawn is that if you want good avg from a prosmatec drive at speeds over 130kms. !!!! Manual gives much better avg. N as the engines of both are quite powerful so there aint much diff on the avg with or without AC.but i too was surprised at the rpm readings of both at diff speeds.as on highways our speeds vary between 90-110 kmph so avg of manual civic is much better then prosmatec.

my father has a 09 altis,i usually drive it to work with him, when i drive like my dad(low throttle) in the city is gives 9.5km/l and on highway it gave me 11.4km/l and i still had 20-25km left on the odometer but i refuelled anyway as the gas station was far

so as far as i know the new altis is definately worth it when considering its mileage, the civic is known for its bad fuel economy, whatever u do with it...

@ sars yep i too was astonished as the rpm on mine was over 3200 at those speeds whereas the prosmatec was 2500 but on the contrary at speeds of 100 rpm of manual is 2500 n that of auto is near 3000.our speeds on highways are 99% around the 90-110 mark thus the manual gives better fuel avg. Ive checked this many a times so im pretty sure

    @IrfanSiddique

the average you get is about ok.
I had a manual civic 1.8 for a month and thats what i use to get (6-7) km/l in city.

as for Altis, I had the old Altis for a year and it always gave me 9-10 km/l in city (with AC) and 13.5-14 km/l on highways (with AC)
its a 1zz-fe engine designed for fuel econo and previous altis was lighter than civic as well.
new altis is (heavier than the old one i have heard) but has electronic power steering which helps in fuel econo.

on average i had 4 persons sitting in the car.

as to improve your fuel economy you can
1: check your tire pressure and adjust it correctly to the company specs, that will help for about 2-3 % in fuel economy.
2: replace spark plugs if you havent already.
3: standard size tires (recommended for your car) fat tires increase rolling resistance and drag, hence decreasing fuel ecomony.
4: soft throttle and shift to neutral in long trafic jams.

New Airfilter will not benifit you on petrol consumption (it is negligible)
a clean airfilter however keeps your engine oil clean so can change it after reccomended intervals.

you can Ask Cylestyne about the ideal consuption of civic though.

Can anyone tell me what's wrong with those factory fitted tyres in new Civic? I mean everyone suggests that I should get them changed immediately.

for new civic anything b/w 6.5km/lt to 8km/lt is normal no problem with the car at all. some ppl have the habbit of high reving while others keep it low soyeah ur car is pretty normal. our civic 07 prosmatec with 205/60/R16 tires gives like 7-7.5km/lt in city with A/C at all times and on karachi-hyderabad highway it gives sumthing like 14-15km/lt with a/c on thorughout and very quick pickups at times after when truckers and bus drivers get out of the way
