Default Why Honda City has more warranty than Civic.

On Honda Atlas website, it is written for Honda City that "The warranty of the vehicle is valid for 3 Years or 70,000 kilometers whichever comes first from the date vehicle is sold and is transferable". Whereas the warranty for Honda Civic 2 years or 50,000 KM, whichever comes first. Although Civic is expensive than City. Why is it so?

interesting observation. do share if you get an answer. my wild guess is they'd say it's because Shitvic is more durable (since it's more expensive) ect.

these are marketing tricks as city was introduced in as 09 so it had a strong competion with 1.3L corolla trim so just to be one step ahead this could have been what they thought by that time on the other hand civic was introduced in 06 september which was already enjoying boom sales by the time when 09 city was introduced this is what i think not sure if its the reason

I think its the other way, if a vehicle is durable the company will give it more warranty coverage while if the vehicle's quality is pathetic, they will give you very less warranty, Pak Suzuki is the example.

Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

Thats what I don't understand, Suzuki is giving more warranty on expensive products and less warranty on cheap ones but Honda is doing vice versa.

@c123, Honda City was never a competition to Corola even XLi. dats y the biggest mistake honda made was to over price the City infront of a rolla, so the first thing honda did was to reduce its price to under the price of Xli.

City being priced higher then Rolla is like a mehran VXL (power pack) being expencive then a Alto vx (under powerd).

Both City nd Corolla tend to cater differnt markets, even the Corolla XLi has faced sevire sales declines, many many people are now opting for the Gli version.

Altho Civic was a direct competitor for corolla but due to offering only one trim dat goes to the niche market. so corola to cater the niche market offer the Altis trim
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

The warranty is a very tricky thing. Among other conditions one of the main condition for the validity of warranty is that the car should be fully maintained at 3S dealer and no mods whatsoever, like installing security alarms, alloy rims, tires other than of stock specifications, even using the lubricants, filters used from outside void the warranty.

So the longer the warranty, the longer the 3S dealers get income from maintenance of a car.

About sales, no doubt sales declined after recent price rise, but still there is a long waiting period, means, no manufacturer PS, IMC or Atlas are hit by lack of demand and thus competing with each other.

Atlas never gears their products to beat IMC or PS and the vice versa. They are not competing with each other at all, as all these assembler have steady demand and no surplus products lying in the warehouses.
Be polite on the road. Always give way to others, particularly ambulances and pedestrians.

I posted that topic in "General Auto Talks" but a moderator moved it to "Wheels In Pakistan" now it is again moved to "General Auto Talks". Whats going on??
Moderators think that they have more knowledge than other users but this is NOT the case everytime.
