Default Civic 2006-09 vs previous Civics in PK

now its been 3 years this 8th gen civic is in our market. how well do u think the car has been successful as compared to previous civic models. the sales figures are low but the car itself is very outstanding. also how successful it is among the used car buyers & that its performance, reliability, maintenance & fuel consumption as compared to previous civics.

    Having driven 6th, 7th and 8th gen, here's what I think.

There's more ride comfort in the 6th and the 8th gen than the 7th.

Both 6th and 8th gen are better looking cars.

Both 6th and 8th gen have better acceleration.

But I wouldn't buy a 6th gen because you can't brake while turning, or vice versa - you can't manouvre while braking.

And I wouldn't buy an 8th gen because there's more to cars than a pretty interior..it sucks at sharp turns.

    My vote - 7th gen.

^^^ I think the 7th gen handles the worst out of the three.....

6th gen is the best, just stiffen up the suspension a bit and the problem of not being able to manuver while braking will be solved......

the models changing (going ahead) and the interior quality, ( quality not design ) keeps geting worse.
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

most of the people i know, don't like the 7th gen over than 6th... don't know why.. however i believe if the 8th gen was available in 2 engine configurations like its earlier siblings then it would have been much more successful than it is today.

Well as i see the genertations of civic.

Every civic has some problem.(read it at pakwheels owners complaining)
about civic 2002-2003 model it has some problem which i cant recall(panicslayer can tell coz he wrote them some where)
2004-2005 few ppl complained that the car pulled to left side when braked hard.
and about the 8th generation few ppl were complaining about the steering fluid leaking and if not attended it leads to bigger problem.(3 to 4 guys complained about this)

My personal opinion about the civic is.

when ever a new model comes it has some improvements and one cant say that previous was better technically. not like the new one is that persons personal opinion.

about service i remember member saying that honda did a Recall for some window rail thing so that pritty good thing.

if i compare the 7th generation with the 8th generation. then in terms of seats i would go with the 7th generation.
i really Hate the seats of the 8th generation civic. they are hard and not comfortable.

and i must add that civic is the best handling local Mfg car u have driven
    RIP

8gen hands down. And as far as the complaints on handling goes, its designed to have a comfortable ride from the ground up which the older Civics can't really compare to.

However if you want to get a taste of sharp cornering and zero body roll, drop the suspension and if you really have the balls, slap on a set of stiff Honda factory performance coilovers and you'll see what it can do

Wrong. 7th handling is much better than the 6th one and this one u have admitted in ur own post "STIFFEN UP THE SUSPENSION". 7th gen is known for its stiff suspension and handling although that is quite uncomfortable on bumpy tracks. About ur point to make handling better by making suspension stiff...... that could be done on any car. Make suspension stiff for better handling and braking. Here we are talking about stock, not modified

^ stock to stock, 6th gen handles better, but the 7th gen is capable of taking on bigger rims/tires than the 6th gen. It also has a larger overall "track width" compared to the 7th.

I think even with performance coilovers the 6th would probably outperform the 7th because the 6th gen is a double-wishbone suspension overall, compared to, mcpherson struts and a wishbone suspension, in the 7th.

so the 8th gen handles well but what about performance? maintenance? driveability? comfort? maintenance cost and more importantly the reliability factor.
