Default RPM not going above 5500 issue in civic vti 2003

There is a strange problem which i have noticed in my friend's vti, on petrol his rpm do not go above 5500, however it works fine when car is running on CNG. Also this was tested when car was standing idle. Also the car is prosmatic. Can anybody help and guide?

thats very normal - its called rev fuel cut - to protect the engine from self destruction on no load condition - or in plain words to prevent monkeys from destroying the engine.

I beg to differ. the fuel cut in a VTI is at 7200 RPM and the redline is at 6900. Although the VTEC switchover is at 5500. any ideas?

    D16Y8
    VTEC
    • Displacemnt : 1590cc
    • Bore and Stroke : 75 mm × 90 mm (3.0 in × 3.5 in)
    • Rod Length : 137 MM
    • Rod/Stroke : 1.52
    • Compression : 9.6:1
    • Valvetrain : SOHC VTEC 4 valves per cylinder
    • Power : 127 hp (94.7 kW, 129 ps) 6600 @ rpm
    • Torque : 111 ft·lbf (45.79 kg/m, 145.1 Nm) 5500@ rpm
    • Head Code : P2J
    • VTEC Switchover : 5500 rpm
    • Piston Code : P2P
    • Redline 6900 rpm
    • Rev Limited To 7200 rpm
    • ECU Code : P2P

first of all manual to auto rpm limiter has diferences, secondly i highly doubt 7200 being the limit.
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.
