    Default Civic 2005 Mileage question

    Wanted to know what should be the mileage for my car ? It's on CNG at the moment and I plan to remove it soon. So just wanted to know what should be the mileage of my car. Has done about 65,000 KMs. I don't rev it much either. Around 3500 max.

    I have a CIVIC 2005 Exi Prosmatec , Eagle Eye, I always floor the accelerator (lock it in 2nd gear), 55Kg Cylinder, it never goes less then 70km, when my father drives he often manages to get 110-120km city, and around 150km highway (hyderabad).

    @alighumman

    I will definitely agree with the figures quoted. Same for me.

    Then why is my mileage so low on CNG ? Will get rid of it anyway. As for the Petrol mileage, how much should it be for a prosmatec vti oriel in regular driving .... ?

    @Zish16

    Dear Sir (2) and (D3) locks the gear in 2nd and 3rd respectively, while D means car can select any of the 4 gears automatically (Prosmatec has 4 gears instead of 5) .

    I use (2) for acceleration, in this mode CIVIC accelerates to 100km/hr very quickly.

    No local Civic has cruise control (even the 2009 one), only Corolla ALTIS Cruisetronic has it.

    I had a Japanese 1988 Accord once and 1995 Mercedes C180, both have that.

    You should be glad, you have 4 wheel ABS with Disc all around, I dont have ABS and civic EXI before 2004 ( Eagle Eye) have rear drum brakes.

    @vyrus

    Sir there is something seriously wrong with your Advancer and Air/CnG Mix.

    ^ Who would you recommend for this job ? I mean, any good workshop for this stuff. The one i've been going to literally sucks. It's been more than 2 years now since it's been on CNG and not one day has it actually performed well. Slow as hell pickup, low mileage, even worser with A/C ! I've even noticed it performs quite sluggish even on Petrol now. idk why but it does. I got the oil filter changed last week aswell as new Havoline oil.

    @ alighumman

    I have Vti prosmatec 2005 and I used to use this car on petrol. It never gave me an average of more than 9km/L on city and about 12km/L on highway. I wonder how did you come up with these figures. I have already asked from many other civic owners and they complain about the same issue.

    As far as CNG is concerned, it gives about 75~85km(with AC) and 100km(without AC) in the city and about 120~130km(on highway) on 55-cylinder.

    @e105

    Sir

    not all CIvics are equal, maintaining a Civic properly is not everyone's piece of cake, the problem here in Pakistan is that everyone thinks that he has buy a Civic and now he can be a real F1 race driver (general observation), without properly maintaining the car, I had a trip from KHI to Muree, and my brother has averaged upto 19km/ltr on motorway.

    My office is 21km from my home (one way), my full tank average is around 500-590 km despite traffic jams, and its an EXI PROSMATEC.

    VTI can be more fuel efficient and fuel hungry both at the same time, that all depend on your Right foot at the gas pedal.

    @Zish16

    Sir, its totally unwise in any other car to rev the engine @ redline or beyond but fortunately Civic has a rev limiter and it cuts the petrol @ redline.

    Civic actually exceeds 100Km/hr @ 2nd, it goes around 107-109km/hr.

    The 3rd gear can easily pass 120km/hr mark during normal driving.

    And besides what's the purpose of spending 1 million on a Car, giving 1,500-3,000 P/month to Honda South, Insurance premium, Tracker Cost, with almost 50% expensive parts and 30% less resale then corolla, when you cant have the real driving fun.

    @959

    I believe I am adequately maintaining my civic. You cannot argue on fuel economy as you own an EXI and your case is altogether different. An EXI could provide a better mileage but don't comment on somebody if you don't have the same experience and know the reality. I have already read and discussed a lot about this topic on this forum as well as other platforms.

    Go to any Honda workshop and ask from them or look at this post:

    i agree with e105... mileage figures that he has quoted are almost the same as i m getting on my Vti oriel prosmatec 2001. i get around 9 km/l in city and 12-14 km/l on highway depending on the way i drive.
