    Default Civic Issues

Guys i bought a Civic 2007 today, 19000 KM mileage, the thing is...the car's drive isn't really smooth and it keeps knocking every now and then

What could be the problem? I hope its nothing serious...

    Does it have CNG installed?

If yes, then get it tunned from Honda's pitstop on petrol, the knocking will go away.

There is nothing wrong with your car. dont get upset. The only problem is that your cars catalytic convertor is choked. It usually happen when you use leaded fuel in car. Just go to any honda service centre they will just open the oxygen sensor and clean the catalytic convertor with a screw driver, than he will ask you to rev up the car and you are done. Dont buy a new one it costs more than 45,000.

    @ Bango

No bro, it was on CNG before but the guy i bought it from removed the CNG kit a few months back.

    @ F1

Meter check karwaya tha aaj apne mechanic se he says meter genuine hai and engine achi condition may hai but car ko thora rough use kiya hai and maintenance nahi huwi iski bohot arsay se.

    @ Siachen Born

Bro Thank u so much for the detailed description of the catalytic convertor, I'll be taking the car to a nearby Honda service center on Monday to get its detailed check-up done...Just a few minors tweaks are required i guess...nothing serious.

One more thing that ive noticed is that the front lower body of the car touches some speedbreakers ( the self-made speedbreakers usually)

1- Oil Change + Filter Change
2- Tuning (Including cleaning of catalytic convertor)
3- Brake Oil, Fuel Filter, Power Steering Oil
4- Wheel Barring replacement (front left, costs about 1500 rupees)

Dont confuse knocks with jitters. If your car is an m/t, its a bit jittery unless you get used to it in the 1st to 2nd gear. Its normal, but when your foot is used to the sensitive accelerator pedal it'll be fine.

I dont know why people confuse Octane rating with the quality of fuel. These two things are totally different. Let me take Octane rating first " It is the measure of resistance of fuel to auto ignition" Now higher Octane rating is required for those cars usually sports cars with smaller combustion chambers and higher compression ratios as the fuel gets too hot once compressed that it auto ignites without spark plug being fired. So if you want to run your car on Hi-Octane it will just cost you some extra rupees with no effect on performance. You can surely do it if you have extra but rest assure it will not do any good to the performance of car.
