    Default HELP! Civic starting problem

    AoA brothers,

    My father bought honda civic 2002 vti oriel milege is 145k. problem in car is that when engine heats up like when temprature needle is in the middle and car is switched off it will not start again for 5 0r 10 minute. after that it start on first crank. For example we go from home to cng station 10 minuts drive and switch off engine there the car will not start and we wait for 5 minutes. the car continue to crank like battery is weak but after some time it start on first crank.

    My dad changed timing belt, all oils, spark plugs, serviced ignition two times, got radiator washed and other minor things. battery was checked and battery wala said it was in okay condition to.

    We have been to mechanics and they all say this is a problem in honda civic model . is that true? how can they have such problem and not fix it.

    Please anyone can help any suggestion or experience. I will be very thankful. it is very hard sitting in car in this heat with family and it does not start.

    what can problem be?

    thank you.

    @VCheng

    Yes car is on cng. When car starts after giving problem then it runs fine without any problems. It give no problem at all except when it engine is switched of after driving for some time even short time 5-10 minutes. Otherwise it drives fine.

    It was suggested by @Xulfiqar it can be bad crank sensor problem.

    Very confused now.

    @argtr65

    Starter motor we serviced two times. One time when we get the car and second time when we start getting this problem.
    Also battery terminals etc have been checked.
    Get the valve clearance checked and loosen the tappets slightly.
    Not done this but car not heating up. Problem start even on normal operating temprature like when needle is under half point or at half point.

    @959

    Doing that on monday.

    Please any if you can help. I am very thankful already for suggestions.

    That is why I asked if the car, once it starts, runs fine or not. Does it?

    From your answer, it does. A crank sensor problem would not be so reproducible under identical circumstances as you describe.

    Yes i do agree with saadn1,because some times when cell got weaken,on charging they get hot due to which it creats resistance in current flow,result in low cranking speed.After a while when engine is switched off,battery electrolyte temperature get drops causing restoration of current flow because of this startor motor moves easily for time being.

    I faced exactly same problem in my vti last week. I took it to my regular mechanic and he said its ignitor is causing the problem. But I was not satisfied and for the second opinion I took my car to an Electrician. He said ignitor as well as generator both r fine and battery is causing problem. So to make it confirm I swapped battery with my dads corolla and from that day till today its been almost a week and I have no problem at all. Problem Solved...!

    SO... "Battery" is the reason for sure. REPLACE IT

    cylinder compression, if you look at the arrows they point up to the above post and the guy said - heat expands the rings and puts a load on the starter, YES - but also increases compression - which is required for the engine to start in the first place..

    When you crank your engine, what you are doing is building air compression in the cylinders by spinning the engine at about 300 rpm,, when FUEL and AIR get compressed in the cylinder - and the plug ignites this bomb of a combination - you get combustion which makes the engine RUN on its own

    i saw a problem like that about 8 years ago in am Integra with the ZC mill - it was the main relay acting up - but in that case - the starter would lovingly crank the engine - but the engine would not fire as it was on a chaai break

    bro, if the car stops while the engine is running then its not a problem with the starter motor, coz once the engine starts its got nothin' to do with the starter motor(self)...
