Default problem with civic temperature needle

    Dear pakwheeler's
i own a 1999 civic vti. for the last few weeks i have been having this problem that whenever i turn on the headlights, the engine temperature needle and the fuel gauge needle mysteriously goes up! none of the mechanics have so far been able to diagnose the problem. if anyone here has any views as to what might be going on and can also recommend a good workshop where i can get this looked at, it would be really appreciated. thank you

ground connection for the cluster is bad AND/OR the most usual culprit is a weak ground cluster connection at the right front fender.. (Headlamp ground)

Another point to check is the wiring under your dash by your feet, some jackasses cut up and do all kinds of havoc with wiring
