To add further, never engage the gear on accelerated RPM. 1 or 2 RPM is too much to get the transmission engaged

if its like the ghhrrr sound its common in the 8th Gen civic Prosmatec (atleast), its kinda knocking. Try using a mixture of Hi-octance and super petrol 10:30 ratio.
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

Well we faced the same problem in our Civic 07 last year.
We had to replace belt adjuster bearing and bearing both of them! and then it was fine.

Iam sorry dude. But looks like you know nothing about civic.
Its not at normal. Maybe its normal for you but NORMALLY bearing and belt adjuster bearings are worn out and it causes this problem.

Well let me add more....Civic 1.8 has 3 major issues
    1. Power Steering Pump issue...(sometimes whole pump has to be replaced n if ur lucky enough replacement of kit/rings will save the day..)
    2. Mounting issue
    3. Adjuster Bearing/ Pulley Tensioner issue
Then we have another issue...Driving Seat Window gets unaligned...u press the auto button to gear it up to the top but it never goes up n come back down again...

Moral of the story....Civic 1.8 is quite an expensive car in terms of maintenance....
    Drivin Benzez...with no benifits....

Intresting thread! I am amazed to know that the best locally produced car of Pakistan has such major problems. What is Atlas quality assurance department doing?

@Amjad Rohani and others. Kindly clarify one more issue of Reborn which is being discussed on Pakwheels is regarding its weak front axles or ball joints. Is this also a major issue?

The bearing and driver side window problem was found in India, Thailand, Pakistan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia. etc. Since Altas Honda imports couple of these parts form Thailand and thus those parts were faulty. But in newer cars, ALL these problems are absent!

As for Axle and ball joints, well if someone bangs his car on the foot path and its axle comes out then i dont know why that person should be surprised. Civic 1.8 is made according to international standards, not for KHADDAS and PINDs which we keep in mind while buying a car. If one has to visit these places very often, then 1.8 Civic is not his cup of tea.

    P.S.
Im keeping a Civic 1.8, i never faced any axle problem, you know why? Cuz i never BANGED my car anywhere!
