Default Suggest tyres/rims for my black Civic 95

Hi all. I have a black 95 Civic. It has 175/70/R13 tyres with stock rims. As the tyres have become weak, i want to change the tyres and possibly the rims. Plz tell me about the effects of increasing the tyre size to 14. Should i go for it or remain with the stock 13 size? Thanks in advance.

heya bro...i also have a 95 civic black...and am using 185/r15 dunlop tyres...and they r perfect in all ways..the advantage is tht 95 civic is very lowered ride...so by installin R15..it does not touches the ground on bumpy roads or large speed brakers..185 is much wider than 175...so the grip is awesome...the disadvantage is tht speedo is showing 60km/h and actually we r going on 70km/h ...my uncle bought 185 r15 yokohama...they r superb ..am also buying yokohama...it costs around 5.5 k each tyre ..and r13 (same brand) costs about 3.5 k each...i prefer yokohama becuz it reasonable and nice performace...other choices are dunlop,general...or if u can afford 7k u shud go for bridgestone...as far as rims...i dnt know abt them..am using simple rims..costed me 700rs each r15...

Sir 185/60 R14 is the best size for your Civic, try to find Bridgestone ER30 or Kumho KH11, Michelin XM1 and Yoko db decibel are also good tires.

Toyo Trampio are Slicks if i am not mistaken. Purely for racing purpose and are very dangerous in rainy season like these days.

As far as poster's query is concerned go for 15'' rims with Dunlop sp9000. If u r in racing then gor for 205/55 else 195/55 will do. Its has very nice road grip i am personally using it on my Civic 95 and i am satisfied.

if you choose to upgrade the wheels and tyres you must factor in that the new rims must not be too wide, have the wrong offset and that the tyres are the correct size otherwise you will run into all sorts of issues.

depending on your requirements we can suggest a setup for you.

if you just drive from point A to B then you should stick with stock steel wheels and fit better tyres (you can fit wider tyres while lowering the sidewall profile).

if you intend on making the car LOOK fast (but actually slow it down) then go for 17's.

if i had the car i'd not go larger than 14 or 15 inch with the correct size tyres. do note the wider doesn't mean more grip, sometimes there is a tradeoff to grip with rolling resistance and therefore power transfer and fuel economy. i think on a stock OR modified 95 civic a 195 tyre is more than enough.

as for tyre brand and compound, go for the freshest tyres you can find and buy from a trusted supplier. sadly most tyres in PK are smuggled and have had their date stamps altered.

Good luck an let us know what you decided.

Thanx to all u guys for ur valuable suggestions. Just wanted to add that yesterday while in the tyre market, i came across a set of Nexen 195/60/R14 and the guy was asking a very reasonable price. Should i go for it? Also let me tell u that my car is purely a family car. No racing. Just worried about the clearance when i get the low profile tyres.

Sir personally I do not like Nexen, can you share the price with us.

I also do not like low profile tires for Karachi and specially for cars older then 5 years.

195/60 is not a LP in real sense. N ul not have any clearance issues with LP tyres..

technically any tyre with a aspect ratio of less than 80% is considered a low profile.

Sir simply because they have not yet produced a world class tire.

You should not look for bargains while shopping for tires, a lot depends on them.
