It gets hard when one cross 100 kph, with increasing speed the steering gets hard so that car maynot drift into other lanes unintentional. It can be rotated on your finger tips on slow speeds and stand still.

I have this very problem from most of civic owners.

    Agreed!
It becomes very soft when standing still but gradually becomes hard with the increase in speed.
Same is the case in Corolla's EPS.
In Civic I think its a HPS?
But still I found the EPS of Corolla a bit more softer than Civic.

Corolla's steering gets a little hard when it moves from stationary position.
It does not remains all that light once the car is in motion.

    Sir

Harder steerings are better, my 1988 3G Accord has the best speed sensitive power steering I have ever witnessed in any C segment FWD car irrespective of price.

EPS is just to cut the costs, nothing modern.

I do not know what do you mean by harder, whether its a problem in steering system or you are referring to stock tuning?

    Regards

From what I've heard is that EPS also reduces a bit of load on engine?
